| this song meant a lot to me after a breakup awhile back.. it summed it up for me. i think it's about a relationship that seems like the whole world.. it seems like the only thing that matters and like it's so above any other love. the kind of love where two people can carry each other in weakness, hence the samson references. but she's looking back on this relationship, wondering how he and everyone else don't see it as beautifully as she does. "the history books forgot about us, and a bible didn't mention us".. she's realizing that as much as the relationship meant to her, in the long run, it was forgotten and unnoticed. | |

I love this song; my best guy friend had me download it after my boyfriend and I broke up. I see the song as being about a guy and a girl that have been there for each other for forever. She's been through a breakup and he's consoling her and letting her know that she's perfect the way she is and letting her know that he'll be there for her and do anything she needs. He's also telling her that things have been rough for him for awhile, and that he wants her help being happy..kind of a "mutual" cheering-up lol. I feel like the whole song is pretty platonic, but the "You always did kind of drive me crazy and it pissed me off cause I let it phase me, But I never wanted my time with you to end," is him admitting that he always has had feelings for her, but he doesn't want it to get in the way of their friendship. Gahhh this song's adorable I love it :) |

this song is absolutely amazing. i found it at the perfect time..it was really one of those life changers for me. in my situation, my boyfriend and i had been together for a long time and it just felt empty, but i was too scared to do anything because i felt safe in the relationship. to me, the "ringing like a bell" is the feeling of wanting something more so badly. "tell me this is paradise and not someplace i fell" means that he wants reassurance that this stage that he's at is where he wants to be, even though he knows it's just him giving up. the actual "car crash" isn't the scary, death, tragedy kind of car crash..it symbolizes that he wants to break free of this steady, autopilot sort of life he's living. "i wanna feel it capsize..i wanna let go and know that i'll be alright" means that he needs this actual force to make him change and he wants to know that it's the right thing for him to do. the next verse symbolizes that as badly as he wants to break free, he knows he needs that outside push to do it. "where nothing dims these stars" shows that he feels his current life is holding him back and sort of dimming the emotion, good and bad, all around him. it's all right, it's all wrong shows that though everything is all right and decent, it's not what he wants. summary: the car crash isn't something bad or good. it's just something. he wants to feel again. |
