Tocotronic – Mein Ruin Lyrics 16 years ago

Sonata Arctica – My Land Lyrics 17 years ago
i think like craniifer, i find *my land* to be a quite unsuitable expression or metaphor for a living person, wouldn't be much of a nice pet name to call your girl *my land*, would it?
That one with the Dalai Lama and Tibet seems possible, Finland may be, too, even if I don't know anything about their role in wwII

Museum – Uncorrupted Lyrics 17 years ago
This is real art. I mean, like the essence of it.

Makes me feel like sitting alone on a green hill or mountain, watching sunset, having grass under me tickling my feet and enjoying the silent peacefulness of the moment - far away of all the wrongs and complications of this world.

I hope this band will become as far as they deserve it.

Fair to Midland – (Tibet) Dance of the Manatee Lyrics 17 years ago
Havoc has a point here. I'm basically thinking the same, but there seem to be a lot of references to nature, too. I don't want to describe all of my sight on the song, but the animals "cats and dogs","tortoise and hare in a rat-race", "gander", "manatee", they show a connection to nature. In my opinion this song is about the final price, that our environment-destroying culture will end up paying. The world will change, animals and humans will die. It may be better, if mankind itself was wiped from the surface of this planet. All we ever do is build and destroy to the disadvantage of our environment.
You may want to see the musicvideo (YouTube) There's a big guy, who seems to be an embodiment of nature (kind of looks like that). He suffers under the things, the little people (humans, afaiunderstand) do to the earth, while he is basically stronger than them. Their cities end up burning. When he can no longer live with that, the ground cracks up and divides him from the others. On his side, the beauty of nature comes back, flowers, you know, and so on. A few people also are on his side and live in peace with him and it's just in one word "Peace".

Kind of reminds me of Indians. They lived the right way, didn't they?

Serj Tankian – Praise The Lord And Pass The Ammunition Lyrics 18 years ago
Buddha, Hindus and Mohammad are mentioned in the same line to accentuate their state as founders of religions which basically want their members to live in peace and belief together. So the two other religions, which are known for their peacefulness, stress, that the aims of Islam are basically the same as theirs.

My additions:
1. I think so. 2.
I guess the belief of Islam seems to be vulnerable for mind affecting (no offense...) I can't really explain myself the fact to myself differently, that most terroristic actions are accomplished by Islamists. Maybe it's also the fact, that many of them live in bad conditions and get hatred for America and western states for not intervening.
3. I'm not sure, but already Mohammad started fights to give his new-founded religion more place and possibilities, didn't he?

Sonata Arctica – Sing In Silence Lyrics 18 years ago
Ye :D
Should rather be a blood and brainsucking monsterparasite, sth like that. But well, it would be too much of cliché, at least the monkey is something new and also really good to understand.
And this song is awesome, like everything of Sonata Arctica, which I heard yet.

Sonata Arctica – Weballergy Lyrics 18 years ago
As I read it, the song seemed pretty clear to me. Adressed to people who sit in front of their computer all day long and live a virtual life instead of going out and experience something real. The rage and run in their illusion, which is ment to help ignoring the outside-world. They're stuck in time there, 'though sooner or later will have to admit, that they are not. The *If you live like a man, You live in tales you tell * and the line with *male* are refering to this lifestyle, not being a too male way to spend your time, rather childish.

But of course I support the thesis of SoAD, that every song should be interpreted by people how they like it best and understand it.

Serj Tankian – Elect The Dead Lyrics 18 years ago
The fact, that these few words motivated people here to write about their meaning (much more words than the lyrics consist of actually) should show you, that Serj's work is not useless. He gets people to really think about life and find their way to go through it (in a better way?)

First I heard the song with the lyrics, I didn't really get what he's talking about. Now I'm impressed to the max, how much this bunch of words can be interpreted in so many and complex ways. Makes me musing 'bout what my life should be, once more. And masterpieces like this can really show you the way to a meaningful life. A good one.

Propably the most stating song with this small amount of words, that has passed my path by now.
