i think it's not necessarily just about religion, its about anyone who thinks they can help him, really. but yeah it could well be addressed to a god of some sort. and maybe the end part ("save me, save me...") is where he suddenly thinks "oh crap i do need someone to help me" but then he realises that would be going back on his word, so he adds "i don't care", just to keep his dignity? |

like everyones already said, its about pete's overdose, and theres a reference to van halen in the title, which seems like its also a bit of a joke ("haha, overdosing is so rock n roll" or something). and the song also has a shallower meaning, which is the boy/girl story. thats the beautiful thing about the lyrics, you have to really think about them, and the actual meaning hits you in the face. uhhm, i think thats all i have to say =] |

aswell as the whole drugs meaning thing, it kinda sounds to me like its about material possessions. "theres a lady whos sure all that glitters is gold and shes buying a stairway to heaven" - sounds as if he's suggesting that money cant buy you happiness and you cant buy your way to heaven. *shrugs* thats just what i thought when i first heard it. |

erm if anyones confused about the lyrics they are in the album cover... i guess you lot all downloaded it or something yeah it sounds like its about petes overdose. i really love the bit "one day we'll get nostalgic for disaster". if its about his overdose then maybe he's saying he knows that he'll try and do it again, even though its not a good thing to do. |
