This song reminds me of "Zombie" by Joyce Carol Oates. I'm pretty sure if you read that it will add a different perspective to this song...I'm not sure if Kinsella read it but it really doesn't matter, he somehow gets into the mind of the main character of that book for me in a way that Oates did in writing it. |

I can't believe no one has commented on this song. For sure the standout track on "Live in Chicago, 1999". Note: Jen Wood's amazing back up vocals & the use of the hip-hop cliche "Don't Test Me", even the beginning lines are somehow seem a deconstruction of rap lyrics to me. |

Seems like a kind of sequel to "Sing the Scarecrow Song". Also, Jeffery? Jeffery Dahmer? Kinsella uses serial killer imagery in a number of songs, without directly depicting murder. This tendency is most notable in "I Want the Blindingly Cute to Confide in Me" by Owls, which always reminds me of "Zombie" by Joyce Carol Oates in song form. |

Has anyone else noted the biblical connotations to the names used?
It wouldn't be the first time Kinsella somehow alludes to the bible or religion. I'm not religious; just an observation. |
