I hear this song as being kind of self-deprecating, like the singer talking to himself. In other words, a lot of times songwriters get stuck in a rut of the same themes, and in this case he was saying to himself "All right, enough already. Life is tough, you've established that. You act like you wrote the book on pain, but you're still here aren't you? So man up and do something about your life instead of thinking negative all the time."
Anyway, I just heard this song for the first time the other day and that was my initial impression...like the song though, think it's a lot better than "Second Chance" even though that is getting a ton of airplay right now... |

this song kicks ass. the way "take me" and the drums kick off each verse is awesome, and the guitar solo after the second verse if my favorite part of this whole album
as for the meaning, it's pretty self-explanatory |

| Type O Negative – Christian Woman Lyrics

I always thought it was Pete trying to convince a religious girl to have sex with him. "Jesus Christ looks like me"
another thing I always thought was interesting was the way he says "Body of Christ" in latin (Corpus Christi) then changes to the english pronunciation soon after. I thought that symbolized the way the church used to say all services in latin, then dumbed it down and said it all in english when people got too lazy to learn latin. |

the end makes it seem like an altercation turned violent, and now maybe he's on the run for committing murder (the bloody knife). but.....
To be honest, the line about "no bulls died today" completely throws me for a loop, and I don't have the slightest idea what to make of the song after that line! definitely confusing |

I'm glad PJ got away from their habit of putting really bizarre tracks like this on albums...it's a cool beat, but think how many good songs got B-sided for "red dot" "aye davanita" "pry to" "bugs" the list goes on... |

I always thought this song was a tribute to musicians who have passed on...for the songs they "saved" by recording them for the next generations to hear. whether it "brings peace" "breaks hearts" or "brings us to our knees" (paraphrasing), good music never dies.
I like everyone else's interpretations too...mine might not be right, but I think about it every time I listen to this song. beautiful song in any case |

used to fall asleep to this song in high school...the beauty of less-heralded tracks like this one and "Galapagos" are why MCATIS will always be one of the best albums ever released |

I hope more people find out about these guys, they are freakin awesome. this is just about not wanting to deal with life, the future, love etc...
I think the end of the song (when the drums and guitar kick in) is expressing regret that so many people allow life to bring them down...and that thought brings him down! |

primus77 I totally agree...New POP Sunday - Pop as in father. The guy in the song just become a new pop. She was nervous because of "something I had neglected" - a condom. Then they made love unprotected. She tells him she is pregnant, but he's cool because he knows it's just a phone call to a clinic to take care of the "problem" |

hearing the live version of this song was one of the most intense concert experiences I can remember...I did not expect that from a DR show, but holy shit...totally had a newfound respect for this song after that |
