My Chemical Romance – Cemetery Drive Lyrics 17 years ago
ha ha ha! OMG ive just read the first few posts for this song slagging off MCR saying that they are shallow for singing about vampires and death!! ha ha ha ha a ha ha ha ha ha! sorry but do people not get the point of a METAPHOR!

lol! just to clear things up previous to me explaining what i think this song means (as this is the point of this website surely) Vampires in MCR songs dont literally stand for the vampires you see in horror movies or cartoons it stands for anybody that tries to take your soul/blood, i.e the government, friends, enemies, bosses, parents etc etc etc, not literally kill you but try and change you (god does that make sense!) and a lot of the time the death element is also a metaphor for someone or something making you something other than yourself...like depression, alcohol, drugs (as we know Gerard had problems with all 3 and all members of the band have openly talked about the fact that they were not popular kids at school which pretty much messed them up for the adult life!).

Anyway i hope that clears a little bit up? No-one should look at songs, especially rock songs, and only look at the denotations, as in whats written down but the connotations instead, read beyond the lines and find out the metaphor's being used etc ....can really open the eyes! lol! (god i sound like a preacher!)

ANYWAY back to this song! Personally i think that this song is about viewing somebody loosing the plot. The character is watching someone he cares about loose control, the drinking, listening to depressing songs etc etc, and he is basically saying that he misses the old person, he wishes that he could walk away but he can't - 'the collision of your kiss that make it so hard' describes this i think.

My Chemical Romance – It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish Lyrics 17 years ago
Im not sure if someone else has written this already! There are so many i couldnt read through them all! lol!

I personally think that this song is about coming out of the depression that someone else has put you in, be it a friendship or love relationship. I think the 'Im coming back from the dead' is a metaphor for depression and also the 'This hole you put me in, wasnt deep enough' is also a metaphor for that fact that although this person has threw the character into depression they didnt completetly destroy this person and they are coming back to get revenge as it were. But then at the end it twists to the fact that the character realises that he still cares for this person but accepts that even if they could be together it would never work out hence the 'but in the end we'll fall apart like the leaves change in colour' line.

mmm hope this makes sense, there are so many metaphores that i could explain but i hope that this gives you the gist of what i think the song is about.

Having been depressed and suffering a mental disorder called BPD, its a real uplifting song about being able to 'come back from the dead'.

Only discovered MCR about 2 months ago and i absolutely adore them...they are real unlike a lot of the manufactured shite thats around these days! lol!!

Newton Faulkner – Uncomfortably Slow Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is definately about Depression/Personality Disorder in my view. If you have ever suffered from either you will understand. The feeling of not knowing who you are or where you are going and being able to pretend to everyone else that you are ok and yet on the inside feeling so detached from the world around you.

Having a Borderline Personality and having suffered depression i must say that this is the most spot on feel from a song that i have come accross for years!
