This is what i think the song is about... He might not be a freshman in highschool by the way, maybe college, it doesnt really matter.. When I was young I knew everything (when he was younger, he figured he knew a lot) and she a punk who rarely ever took advice (she was a punk who never took advice) Now I'm guilt stricken, sobbing with my head on the floor (presently, he's sad and crying how things are now) Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice, no (shoe full of rice means a wedding, so him and this punk girl ended up getting married) can't be held responsible 'Cause she was touching her face (he wont take responsibility that he makes her cry) I won't be held responsible She fell in love in the first place (he wont take resposibility that he made her fall in love with him) For the life of me I cannot remember What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise (he cant remember why they got married and never comprimised for something else) For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever died for these sins We were merely freshmen ((they took vows saying they wouldn't part till death and they were very young) My best friend took a week's vacation to forget her His girl took a week's worth of valium and slept (his friend is in the same situation and they're disstrought about it) and Now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his head on the floor Thinks about her now and how he never really wept (his friend is sad and crying and maybe felt he never thought about his situation) he says I can't be held responsible 'Cause she was touching her face I won't be held responsible She fell in love in the first place (his friend also wont take responsiblity about his wife crying and how she fell in love with him) We've tried to wash our hands of all of this (They tried to make things better) We never talk of our lacking relationships (they never talked about their break up or they just dont talk about their unhealthy marrage) And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our heads on the floor (they're always sad how things are) We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip, (this one's a tough one... i think the ice resembles their relationship, Their relationship wasnt stable like thin ice. when they got married maybe meant to test the ice, and they were too preoccupied on not straying from eachother...slipping... but instead they fell through the ice, meaning they relized they weren't right for eachother, so they either broke up, or put up with what they have...) well i dunno... what do you think? |

| Weezer – Say It Ain't So Lyrics | 18 years ago |

OK, this is what i get from the song, it doesnt have to be about the artist, in fact, lots of songs aren't. But i definately think it's about a dad. Somebody's Heine' is crowdin' my icebox (There's alcohol in the fridge) somebody's cold one is givin' me chills (The alcohol is freakin the person out) Guess I'll just close my eyes (The person will just forget about it) Flip on the tele' Wrestle with Jimmy (Watch some t.v. Wrestle with some dude) Something is bubbling Behind my back The bottle is ready to blow (Maybe a drink is about to explode...i dunno) Say it ain't so Your drug is a heartbreaker (Drug refers to the alcohol breaking his heart) Say it ain't so My love is a lifetaker (The person cares and doesnt want the dad to drink) I can't confront you I never could do (The peron cant confront the dad about his problem) That which might hurt you So try and be cool (The person might hurt his dad about talking about it so he's just gonna "close his eyes" about it) When I say This way is a waterslide away from me That takes you further every day (The person feels that alcohol takes his father away from him) So be cool (The person is just gonna forget about it) Dear Daddy, I write you In spite of years of silence (He writes his dad after a long time) You've cleaned up, found Jesus Things are good or so I hear (The father has cleaned up and found jesus, self explanitory..) This bottle of Steven's Awakens ancient feelings (The drink brings back past experiences about his dad) Like father, stepfather The son is drowning in the flood (The person is now an alcoholic and he's having trouble recovering) That's what I think. I think it fits well... |

| Green Day – Working Class Hero (John Lennon cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Well, I have a question... Are "THEY" telling you a working class hero is somthing to be, or is Green Day telling you, It's alright to be a working class hero because it's somthing to be? | |
