I think some of the lyrics are wrong. The last two lines of the first verse should be: Make it dark Like the night And the second line in the second verse should be: Rooms are dark but don't stop |

| I agree with those of you who think it's being taken too seriously. It's simply an embellished story to teach the kids a lesson about disobeying their mother. Have any of you heard of Struwwelpeter? It's full of "cautionary tales" for children. Their absolutely revolting but not meant to be taken seriously. Yes, rape and prostitution are serious, but that's not the point of the story. It's about being "kind" to your mother because you don't know what she has to go through to put food on the table. As a cautionary tale, like the song's title says it is, this song is brilliant! | |
