| W.A.S.P. – U Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's about really, really, really hating someone. Maybe an ex or someone who betrayed his trust? | |
| Helloween – The King for a 1000 Years Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I agree, the song does have wonderful flow. At first, I thought the song refered to the anti-Christ ruling for Satan, but that isn't the case as that the anti-Christ will rule for 7 years, and Jesus will rule for 1000 following that, and I kind of doubt that Jesus is intended to be the 'evil king'. That said, I imagine this is simply an original fantasy concept meant to tie-in with the loose concept of the keeper of the seven keys (there isn't really an actual plot line, as far as I can tell, just loose references here and there). Doesn't matter though, because it's still a great song. |

| Iron Maiden – Rime of the Ancient Mariner Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I also used to have an ~80 minute version of that song "What Is Love? (Baby Don't Hurt Me)", but all it did was loop every ~5 minutes. Lame. I deleted it. | |

The meaning is already established. The song "Something In The Way" by Nirvana is 20:35 on the Nevermind album. I don't know, because the song is only about ~4 minutes long, but it stays quite for the next ~12 minutes before they start playing some random crap and Kurt starts screaming a bunch of stuff. Scared the crap out of me because I wasn't paying attention, and suddenly I start hearing all these freaky voices out of nowhere. |

| Blind Guardian – Dead Sound of Misery Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I really like these lyrics though, for some reason. The song has sort of grown on me, but still doesn't compare to Fly. | |
| Blind Guardian – Dead Sound of Misery Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Fly came first, Dead Sound of Misery is a remix, like JoshPR said. I would definitely say I like Fly better because I liked Fly very quickly, and still do after many listens, but Dead Sound Of Misery, which I originally didn't like (even though I loved Fly at the time, and was unaware it was a remix) has only come to be considered a mediocre song for me. | |

| Iron Maiden – Infinite Dreams Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Actually, this song is a bit similar to Dream Of Mirrors. I wouldn't say this is their best song, I've never been able to pick a 'best' song for them, since there are so many, but I don't think I'd put this one THAT high up on their list either. It's in the top 40% though and better than a good portion of all the other metal songs out there. |

| Iron Maiden – Moonchild Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I have to say, the synth intro is really, really good. | |
| Iron Maiden – Moonchild Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| There was a post on The Evil That Men Do by someone named Deathway that did a pretty good of explaining that song and the album in general. Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Evil That Men Do Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Deathway seemed to have it right. | |
| Alice Cooper – Raped and Freezin' Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Sorry... what does this mean? I sort of get it, but not fully. | |
| Alice Cooper – I Love The Dead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love how only one person addressed this song's actual lyrics. Haha | |
| Alice Cooper – Escape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Don't forget alcohol, he did have a problem with that and there's the line "I'm crying in my beer". | |
| Alice Cooper – Years Ago Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I'm not going to lie, this song scared the crap out of me the first time I heard it, but I loved it. I wasn't looking at my iPod when it was playing, so I just assumed it and Steven were the same song because of how similar they are to each other. I couldn't really understand what mckevlar said, but I'm intrigued. OK, so I was listening the song as I was posting this comment and *just* noticed at the end of the song, there are a bunch of R2-D2 like noises. Funny, considering this came first... >_> |

I didn't think JofaGuht's idea was too bad, plus it's not like he said he was right, he said that was what it appeared to be to him. And at that point no one else had really presented a good theory yet (except perhaps kkhx3's, but his was a little vague). MidNiteOil's idea seems more plausible than any of the others, I think. |

| The Phantom Of The Opera – Music of the Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The lyrics are wrong. -_- | |
| The Killers – Where the White Boys Dance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I won't bother listing the meaning because it's already been established. I downloaded the album because I didn't want to spend money on it (I gladly paid for the first album, but not this one, I didn't like it as much). :p That's how I got this song, anyway. I think it's pretty catchy. | |
| Helloween – The Game Is On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Meaning/Interpretation: Playing a video game... too much. In the first stanza, it talks about the game and how it can make you escape into a different world. In the second stanza, the room is on fire, but the person playing the game doesn't notice because he's playing the game. In the third, it talks about how the person playing is playing it too much because it's disorienting him and his sense of reality. In the first stanza, it seems it could be either a game boy or a console system, whereas in the second one it seems to be a console game. My opinion of the song: This is an OK song, it's not the best song on the album, but it certainly isn't a filler, either. I love the use of the electronic sounds in it, including the infamous Super Mario "pause game" sound. :) Personal: I've had that happen to me, actually (the 3rd stanza), whenever I've played over 9 hours in one day. It starts to hurt to look at anything but the screen. Some people use drugs to escape, I use video games (I have a very spatial mind that naturally space out easily, so it gets me "high" in a weird way). :] Hahaha Not one of my healthiest habits. |

| Iron Maiden – The Trooper Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Sigh... Alright. Here we go: It's about The Charge Of The Light Brigade, which is about the Crimean War. 118 men died out of 673 or 661 men (unknown which number for sure). The charge was essential suicide as that they were charging straight head-on towards waiting Russian guns. The soldiers themselves had no way of knowing that until it was too dead because they were positioned behind a hill when they began the charge. By the time the charge realized what was going on (that either he had been given mistaken instructions, or that he had been duped into a suicide mission) it was too late because he was gunned down and because he was dead/dying he wasn't able to give the orders to halt, so the rest of the troops kept charging on horseback. The charge gained Britain international respect for their cavalries courage, but the same could not be said about Britain's military commanders. |

| Helloween – Silent Rain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
A young girl looks up to her father more than anyone else. One day, however, the father molests the daughter, he tells her not to wail, weep, etc. but the girl does anyway because she's terrified. Her mother sees this, and is jealous of the attention, but does nothing to help the daughter. The father used to mean everything to the daughter and was her hero, so she never tells anyone, despite the fact that she doesn't like it, but also because she feels ashamed of herself and confused. Eventually she stops crying and simply takes it "Silence covers shame". This goes on for some time (years). At least, I'm pretty sure that's what it's about. |

| Europe – Dreamer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Wow. My comment was too long, sorry. I think there are a lot of people out there who often feel like this. | |
| Europe – Dreamer Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I remember the first time I listened to this song, I was pumped from listening to In The Future To Come, so when I heard the first ten seconds of it, I skipped it because I wasn't in the mood. Later, I decided to give the song another chance, and when I listened to the lyrics, I was shocked because they reminded me so much of myself: I do think about the past too much I do cry a little more often than most guys People do think I'm crazy, and maybe I sort of am There are tons of things everyone else understands, that I don't I do try to act mature, but I always fail miserably it seems I won't say my life has been filled with suffering though And I do think I've wasted a lot of my life I would love to live in my own perfect world, but a lot of people do I suppose, but I do seem to spend a little too much time in it I have occasionally fought "for my life" against suicide But I'm not ready to die and I "want to carry on" And I feel very lonely A LOT I guess this is the song that is most accurate to my life that I know of. But I suppose this song WAS more likely written about someone who lost a lot of friends, suffered from a mental illness, or kept working to fulfill a dream that never came true and people called him crazy for believing in. |

| Helloween – Mrs. God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's supposed to be about women's emancipation (rights to vote, etc.), and that makes some sense, but I'm not entirely sure. It's seems to also sort of be about how now that women have power in society, men have to treat them fairly, but it points out that men can get screwed over too if women use their powers too much, and Mrs. God is sort of all the feminism fanatics who are screwing over the men. Though I suspect there is some humorous irony in this song as well about how it's not fair that men can't treat women like objects and that that's just not right. Hahaha | |
| Helloween – Heavy Metal Hamsters Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song was supposed to be a b-side, but wasn't. | |
| The Rasmus – Playboys Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Playboys doesn't mean like the magazine or a guy who gets around, it means the most literal meaning possible: One who plays (all day). At first I couldn't really make out all of the lyrics to this song, so I though he was saying that he has a lot of money but he doesn't want to be rich (the line about the toilet confused me). But then after a few more listens I got it. I could sort of relate to this, though obviously not nearly to the same extent, but when I was home schooled my family was fairly well off, and I never had to do any real work, which is somewhat regrettable, but at least they never spoiled me or let me not study, I just didn't have to leave the house or work a job. | |
| Helloween – I Live For Your Pain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Oh come on, no one has commented on this yet? -.- Anyway, one way or another, something is trapped and being tortured, and the voice loves to watch the subject be tortured, though it seems to be tortured (or burning) itself. |
|
| Helloween – The Dark Ride Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's sounds like the dark ride has a double meaning as being a roller coaster and a trip to hell, or a roller coaster taking us to hell. I hope you understand what I mean. | |
| Europe – Scream Of Anger Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm not sure what the song is about, but Joey Tempest comments in one of their greatest hits album that it's about the "fire" between him and John. I'm not sure which member of the band "John" is because there were two "John"s in the band at the time he wrote this song. I assume they didn't get along well. | |
| Iron Maiden – Man On The Edge Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Baylay wasn't a bad singer, he just got sick all the time and couldn't tour much. Then again, Bruce's voice tends to die out in about half the songs they play live. Truthfully, I don't think Bruce could sing this song better than Baylay because it's meant for a deeper voice than what Bruce usually sings. At the same time, Baylay can't really sing most of the early Maiden songs because he's too deep. | |
| Iron Maiden – Die With Your Boots On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think the Nostradamus idea makes the most sense what with the line about the French man, though I think the whole die trying idea is right as well, it's only half the message. I wonder if there is a specific piece of literature/film that inspired them to say "die with your boots on" as opposed to "die trying", etc.? | |
| Iron Maiden – Still Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| At the beginning of the sixth track, the band included a hidden message which could only be understood by playing the album backwards. This was a joke and an intended swing back at the critics who had accused Maiden of being satanic. The backwards-message features Nicko McBrain mimicking Idi Amin (or rather mimicking John Bird mimicking Idi Amin) uttering the following phrase "What ho said the t'ing with the three "bonce", do not meddle with things you don't understand...", followed by a belch. The phrase itself is taken from the satirical album The Colleckerted [sic] Broadcasts of Idi Amin by Bird and Alan Coren. "What ho" and "What ho said the t'ing" are phrases that also crop up regularly on McBrain's "Listen With Nicko!" tracks from the First Ten Years collection. | |
