| The evolution and change of the American West has destroyed the beauty that this man had found in the land years before. Relatively simple song, but a definite keeper. | |

if the message of the song could be summarized concisely to someone, i would refer them to the last sentence of mechpope's posting. "He is trying to tell us to find a middle ground between atheism and fundamentalism." It's a bit of a mess out there, and we all need to hunt for truth and truth alone. Also, as a practicing Catholic, I feel the need to do some clarification and elaboration. 1) The church has made seemingly infinite mistakes in their past (and of course more with their recent controversy). However, post Vatican II, the church has acknowledged their wrongdoings and apologized. I say this largely in reference to eddo's discussion. Take that as you will 2) It [Catholicism] has consequently become probably the most liberal of large organized faith bodies. Let me explain. You won't find the Catholic church ever saying convert to Christianity or die! They believe that all acts of love embrace Christ, therefore truly loving people still can 'go to heaven.' By showing love and care in this world, you live in accordance w/ the Kingdom of God. They DO BELIEVE that Jesus is the only way to heaven, but seemingly rather abstractly, acts of kindness are acts of Jesus Christ. forgive the poor grammar so with that being said, i think Catholicism has made a big step as far as tolerance, maturity, and love for all earth's people is concerned. catholics, yee may want to touch up my post if there are any flaws. Regardless, there are few people who have the talent to write lyrics as well as Tomas. this song is certainly my favorite on the album |
