Pink Floyd – Chapter 24 Lyrics 18 years ago
how interesting! i loved this song and thought it a standout on the record before i thought it was anything more than some free form ruminations on personal philosophy by Syd, it's very interesting to know that he drew inspiration from the I-ching. One of his best melodies i'd say, such a way with the key change he had. The vocal inflection on the word 'heaven' is transcendent.

Pink Floyd – Lucifer Sam Lyrics 18 years ago
i find that a lot of striking similarities can be found between this song and the Mikhail Bulgakov novel "The Master and Margarita," most specifically the mention of Satan as 'Lucifer Sam,' an innocent woman who becomes a witch, and a mischievous cat. The seemingly innocent woman represents the good side of the moral spectrum, opposite that of Lucifer(you're the left side, he's the right side), but that cat...he is something that can't be explained, he calls the idea of a moral spectrum into question. The religious and philosophical albeit amusingly cynical themes of the book seem right up Syd's alley. I love the song and the book, but I'm just chocking all of this up to my own imagination at the moment, I haven't heard any real evidence of association. Anyone else put these together?
