So, I have a completely different theory about this song. I used to agree with all these interpretations, but then I watched the music video. The music video essentially has a young boy, with basically a whole model city, where he controls everything, like I'm guessing the government? I don't really know. But throughout you see a lot of military and army scenes, so I'm not entirely sure how to explain it, but it makes sense to me. All I can say is watch the music video, and it will make more sense. |

"I'm done acting like I won't be sitting here still wishing you wanted me don't say that I never told you take some advice from somebody who knows you" That's a part that was missed out at the end. Which happens to be what I would consider the best part of the song. |

This song is just perfect. It's such a real life situation that either you have been through, or have seen. I LOVE it SO much. |

My feelings about the meaning behind this song are skeptical, here are my thoughts: (please remember this is simply an opinion.) I'm not sure if you all have watched the music video, but in there I noticed that -He's in a hotel suite. -He's married and has a child (exhibited in the video, it's very obvious who they are) So here is one scenario I guess: He is a priest who was bought out a hotel suite, and has a couple hookers or what ever with him, so he's cheating on his family. I'm not sure I need to go into further analyzation with that one because well, he's a cheating priest. Enough said. My second opinion would be: Yes, he's still an cheating priest, but like... Maybe his motivations for cheating is because he's starting to doubt is own occupation, in religion. Maybe he's just completely breaking out, by cheating on his wife to test "god"s limits Maybe he's doubting God, and he wants to see if he will in fact be dammed to Hell by cheating, then he realizes what he's doing is horribly wrong, or he just is so completely confused about all this religion, or a mix of the both. But I may be completely over analyzing this, but it's simply how my mind works. |

I feel like this song is about his love for this girl, but he realizes that... like he isn't perfect, and he could be better for her and she could be better for him... I feel like this girl is kind of.. Nagy per say like.. she's always criticizing him about something or another like he swears too much one day shes too tired etc. Now I'm not so sure about the whole "it doesn't matter how rough these hands get, It doesn't matter because I'm not her man" I think that can either mean he's... having commitment issues or she is having problems with him like he's just giving up and saying "it doesn't matter how rough these hands get" he's not her man.. I don't know at any rate this song is beautiful, and it will always hold special meaning to me :) |

I feel like this song is about what our world is coming to and how he is ashamed of it. I don't think it is about a personal past, but like when he says "We've been alright up until now, but the air that we breath is about to run out. We've rehearsed our lines clear and loud, but the cue never came and the lights," I think it means we try to say we have tried to tell people that we need to help this world but no one seems to care up to a certain point. I don't know correct me if I am way off but this is my perspective of the song. |
