Doesn't anyone else think that this song was written about Kurt? (I know scrappydappydo does, check their comment) A lot of Dave's songs were written about Kurt, but consider this for a moment - "I'm looking to the sky to save me, looking for a sign of life. Looking for something to help me burn out bright."
"I'm looking to the sky to save me" - Don't we all look to the sky for guidance from lost loved ones?
"Looking for something to help me burn out bright" - Kurt said "It's better to burn out than to fade away"

Oh, and to ColdenScence - Everyone compares them because Dave was the drummer for Nirvana. And as you should know, Nirvana was the greatest thing to happen to Dave in his life. Of course he would pay respect to Kurt in Foo Fighters songs.
