Cannibal Corpse – Five Nails Through the Neck Lyrics 18 years ago
Why on earth is it "trapping tack" in the second line? "Trap attack" makes much more sense, since they're describing an ambush. Then again, pointless murder isn't supposed to make much sense, I guess. So on that note, I guess I'll throw on Kill so I can headbang to this for the umpteenth time LOL

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Pope. It's a song about an abusive gold-digging woman. The narrator comes in time to realize she is bad news, but by that point is tied in with her emotionally, physically (lust), and financially, and is having difficulty breaking it off. Boopshoobooloop is on the right track, although some of his specifics are weak or inaccurate.

P.S. -- If I didn't know better, I'd say Dani had my stepmom in mind when he wrote this. :P

Nor can I... Randy can't seem to follow his own fucking lyrics half the time on this album. Which pisses me off, because he's got some awesome lines. I agree, this definately isn't what he's saying, either on Killadelphia or on the album version. Damned if I can figure out what he IS saying, tho. :(

I agree with UncertainTeddi... Pariah, huh? I'll have to check, because he doesn't seem to exactly follow the lyrics during Pariah. The band has admitted that the album quality was somewhat poorer than they liked, in part because of lots of alcohol, and I think we're seeing the result here.

Oh, and I know it says "crow man", but it sounds suspiciously like "cold man". No telling for certain, tho. I wouldn't even bother to question it if it weren't for Randy bullshitting half the lyrics.

Lamb of God – A Devil In God's Country Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's from the point of view of a Civil War soldier fighting for the Confederates, late in the war.

Down South soldier / Third world soldier -- the South was laid to waste to a third-world level.

My vengeance will be swift and terrible / (later) I will have my vengeance in this life or the next -- he's angered at his homeland being trashed and swears revenge at all costs, even after he knows the South has been hopelessly ravaged.

I am the distance between two points / Forgotten, a void -- he's passionate about defending his homeland, but to a large degree he's been forced into this role of a killer. The distance between two points is the divide between North and South--the divide that caused the Civil War in the first place.

I've got a job to do / Harsh and unrepentant / Acrimonious and sanctified / Call me what you will -- Again, he's been forced into the role of a killer with no room for mercy, a role sanctified by the military and his determination to defend his home, despite being called a traitor and a rebel.

I dig holes brother -- a reference to how a defending army (usually the South) would "dig in" and more often than not slaughter the attacking army, who would march straight into the gunfire.

Stick to your guns / The difference is mine are loaded -- possibly a reference to the South constantly having to scrounge for ammunition, while the North was less thrifty, since it had many factories to supply it. More likely, though, Randy just thought it up and sang it because it's a really cool line. This song is kinda deep, but you can't read TOO deeply into things all the time. :)

Most of the rest concerns killing; Drop the coins and send you down to Charon is probably a reference to a specific kill the soldier happens to remember vividly.
