| OneRepublic – Waking Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Though I think some of the interpretations are sketchy, somehow I relate this song to a political statement, deep deep in imagery and metaphors. Shaking things up and calling out everyone who claims to have the same monotonous sense of the antithesis of Ghandi's "be the change you wish to see in the world" quote. Everyone likes to whine and complain but make no effort to change even themselves, on several different levels of government/society ranging from the individual all the way up to countries. The instrumentals towards the end are simply wonderful. |

| OneRepublic – Fear Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think the meaning is pretty obvious. As a child you have no knowledge of pain or hurt so you live life in complete happiness. Playing in the street, is fate for the most of us. Children play in the street, it's fate. If something truly horrible was going to happen there is nothing you can do about it. (metaphorically speaking). The narrator says "when we were children we'd say that we don't know the meaning of fear" Implying that if he could go back, and realize that he was doing all these things that were carefree, he would keep going because fear means nothing to him. Presently, the narrator wishes he still had that child-like sense of invincibility. Though, I suspect it has more to do with the proverbial playing in the street. This song can be applied to a myriad of situations and calms me down a great deal..love the piano. End transmission, heh. |

| OneRepublic – All The Right Moves Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think the song is self-explanatory with a possible deeper meaning. Maybe, just maybe, the song is at face value, saying yes we lose this time. The general tone of the song is so up-beat it got me thinking that maybe something else was here. I think the song is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy --that even though someone else has everything going for them, it doesn't mean that you have to lose. It just means that you'll be a better person for getting through it. Other things may point to the lead singer/band actually calling out everyone who said they would never make it because they didn't have a certain style/sound. This song is kind of an ironic twist because I imagine, that it will be a great single which kind of proves that what "everyone" thought, was wrong. -JGivs |

| Jason Mraz – Details In The Fabric Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Not so much the details in normal life as I think it's life as a whole. You are born, you die. Everything in between is what you make it. Hence the "Details" are really anything and everything, this song touches on those negative (or at first glance negative) things in your life that you think will tear you apart or cause the fabric to unravel (the world is ending). "Thoughts results of static cling" - following the crowd...so you should go your own way, don't stick to any one idea because of conformity, or let those ideas invade who you know you are. "If you're shocked it's just the fault of faulty manufacturing." When life throws you a curveball, take it in stride, it isn't your fault if you try to find yourself in the world and hit a brick wall, trial makes you stronger. At the same time, I can see that as a relationship (with a friend or a lover) and you find that it doesn't work out. I'm randomly listening to this CD and commenting as I go :) Love this song. |

Well I think you've all made excellent translations and interpretations of the lyrics, I just wanted to express what I thought about the "In the order of the primates, all our politics are too late." Personally, I see this as a call to humans to stop and realize, that the desire to be in a position of power, is useless. Futile if you will. In nature, there are no politics, only to survive and reproduce. We get so caught up in the details of life that we don't realize that politics should be the last thing on our minds, but from a sociological standpoint, are the first. -cite current election- :) Awesome song though! |

| James Morrison – Nothing Ever Hurt Like You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Pretty self explanatory song. It's saying you don't know love until you've been hurt/in pain. Even still, this guy doesn't care - to him the pain is what is worth it. That is why he keeps coming back for more. |

| James Morrison – This Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song reminds me of a friendship that I have been in for quite some time now. It's basically the same old story that's been told already. A very good freind of mind neglected our relationship when she got into another one and I took the back burner. I resented her for that and only recently are we able to try to get past it. Whether or not it's a cycle or not I am not sure. I just know I gave her this CD and told her to listen to this track and it would say everything. Fits perfectly :) |

| OneRepublic – Someone To Save You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think that this song is a message to a friend who took advantage of another friend's patience and understanding to (possibly a problem or situation) and the friend is now telling him that he needs someone to save his friend. There is also the feeling that the friend who has reached his limit is only going to wait for so long "hurry though, there's undertow" speaks to me that he will not wait on this friend forever. Good song though, going on one of my emotional playlists ;P |
