| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Johnny0225 - that's not the "real" meaning of the song. You can interpret it however you like, but don't act like it's a fact. Any song in the world, someone always thinks it's about God and someone always thinks it's about sex. I just laugh. Personally, I think the song is most about materialism and money than anything else. The first lines totally fit, "there's a woman who's sure all that glitters is gold and she' buying a stairway to heaven". People think that money will buy happiness, a "stairway to Heaven", and that it will cure anything and get them anything ("if the stores are all closed, with a word she can get what she came for"). But of course, money can't buy happiness or fix everything. Great rock song. |

| Five for Fighting – One More for Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is one of my all-time favorite songs...I've said it a million times before, but John Ondrasik is a genius. I think the title really says it all, it's honestly a fairly simple, although incredibly beautiful, song. Just...one more for love. |

| Gin Blossoms – Hey Jealousy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| God I love this song...to me, it's just so, so brutally honest and heartbreaking. It always depresses me (as much of my favorite music does, lol) but I love it so much, sometimes when I'm depressed this is one of the songs that I listen to over and over and over. Gin Blossoms music is pretty much all amazing that way, actually. | |

Weird...it only posted the first line of my comment. OK, again: I definitely get the prostitution reference, although 3 dimes does seem a bit odd. I think the big picture of the song is more important - it's so sad but beautiful. Any ideas on the recurring theme of blindness through the song? first stanza: morning helps her find her way blind second stanza: morning saves me and I find my way blind third stanza: morning takes her eyes every time |

| Five for Fighting – The Last Great American Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| What a meaningful song, and so beautifully crafted. I just love it. Especially right now, I've been thinking so much lately because of recent events about how horrible humanity can be and how it's so sad what kind of a place the world is sometimes. I think this song is, simply put, an eloquent call to everyone to realize what's happening in the world and realize that it's up to us to make it better. | |

| Lifehouse – Hanging By A Moment Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To me, this song is about love. It's about hanging on to life by the barest thread, but living more than you've ever really lived before. I don't think the song is about God. Not ALL songs are about God, just as not ALL songs are about sex, yet there are some people who seem to find a way to work one of those two meaning into every single song ever made. But of course, really, music is all subjective - it means what it means to you. |

| Wicked – Defying Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Eeeeee I get to be the first comment on this song! NO WAY! I LOVE THIS SONG. So many FABULOUS lines - some favorites are "well if that's love it comes at much to great a cost/I'd sooner try defying gravity", "so if you care to find me, look to the Western sky!", "I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game", "and if I'm flying solo, at least I'm flying free". The song build beautifully and all those lines I mentioned are hit just perfectly. |

| Gin Blossoms – Follow You Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is addictive, SO amazingly good. Gin Blossoms = love. I don't know if it's true or not, but it being about Doug makes sense...and that would just make the song even more amazing, IMO. It's such a sad story :( But beautifully written and delivered, it really is addictive and it's one of those sings that I listen to for therapy, haha. |

| Pink Floyd – On the Turning Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is just genius, really. I loved it the first time I heard it, and I've loved it more with every listening, which is truly the mark of a great song. It's so powerful, and hauntingly, bittersweetly beautiful, not a song you'll soon forget. I can't stop listening to it! The meaning and message of the song are clear - don't just turn a blind eye, you have to do something about the suffering in the world - but so elegantly given. This is one of the great songs of all time in my book. | |
