The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with browning. this song is about him visiting someone in an alcohol rehab center. we get the point he is a visitor very plainly. the line "the only thing keeping me dry is where i am" could suggest he has an alcohol problem too since "dry" is kinda slag for having no alcohol. the last stanza could be refering to an accident ..."after the bars turn out their lights and send the autos swerving"...if there was an accident that would be a good reason to go to an alcoholics clinic.

Jack Johnson – Cookie Jar Lyrics 18 years ago
i did a contexual analysis for this song in my english 101 class this is my intro and conclusion >> Jack Johnson’s “Cookie Jar” first appeared on his second album, On and On. Johnson is known for his easy-going approach to music, which stems from his life spent in Hawaii. “Cookie Jar” is no different. The basic instrumentals force the listener to hear every word of the song. Johnson’s message is very clear in his creative lyrics, which bounce between differing perspectives of society. The song’s title correlates well with the message of the song. Society constantly blames others for its flaws much like the participants of the children’s song “Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?” This song was released in May of 2003 only four years after the tragic Columbine shootings and seven months after Michael Moore’s controversial film, Bowling For Columbine, was released. Johnson’s lyrics reflect his feelings about the growing problem of media violence affecting teenagers, which he expresses by emphasizing the responsibility needed in every level of society regarding as to what teenagers are exposed.

With the growing number of adolescent issues in the world today, Jack Johnson’s “Cookie Jar” focuses on the most threatening. His opinion of why the issue of violence and gun control is displayed clearly in his 2003 ode to society. The far from subtle lyrics approach the subject as a problem that lies in the hands of everyone. Johnson places himself into different perspectives so that the audience understands how the choices of everyone can have effects on others. He concludes that the problems facing society are determined by our choices.

A Fine Frenzy – Near To You Lyrics 18 years ago
could the "new" guy possibly be just a friend? thats how i relate to this song. like the girl is getting over all this emotional baggage of a breakup or whatever and she is leaning on a friend for support. i know i feel better when im near my friends. any girl would agree that a really good friendship between her and a boy is special because its hard to find really good guy friends. so maybe the girl is getting over someone and she is turning to her guy-friend (something different).

A Fine Frenzy – Liar, Liar Lyrics 18 years ago
"the sirens sang so sweet and watched the sailors going down oh oh you talk to me in siren song yeah anyone would drown">>>probably my favorite lines on the whole album. sirens were a part of greek mythology. they were women/half gods that lived on islands and lured sailors in resulting in the sailors death. i think this song is comparing the way a guy acts or the things he says to the sirens' songs - meaning it is deceptive yet so beautiful.
