to me this is a great song. i think this is about a son's last moment with a dying father. "Don't turn away I pray you've heard The words I've spoken Dare to believe For one last time And then I'll let the Darkness cover me" The father tells the son to be strong and to listen to him for one last time. "And then I'll let the Darkness cover me" He's telling his son that he is going to die soon and he'll be surrounded with nothing but darkness. "Deny everything Slowly walk away To breathe again On my own" The father tells his son to live his life, to breathe in and out, on his own without his father. "Carry me away I need your strength To get me through this Dare to believe For one last time" This is at the day of the funeral where the son is watching his father's coffin getting carried to his grave. The father's "spirit" inside the son is telling him that without his strength, he won't be able to rest peacefully. To get him through the hard reality of death. Overall, this song is great. David sounds very calm when he sings this song and the guitar sounds very sad. |

to me this song can be easily interpreted. "Malevolent criminal eye Motivation paints my mind Cross the invisible line and you'll be paid in kind" this part is more of an eye for an eye thing. he is motivated, he has a reason, and if he's pushed, you will get your just desserts. "Criminal This suffering It makes me think like a Criminal The suffering When we're alone" when bad things happen to a person, they tend to do bad things. and the "when we're alone" part, i think that's supposed to mean that when a person is alone for a long period of time they can act strangely or think differently. "A hunger coming over me As I learn to hide the agony To make a final remedy To close the door once and for all" he wants to hide from the pain and forget about what's happened about him. "In a world that I don’t want to know With a message that I never want to send To be free from all of this I want you to quicken my end Don't tell me I can not go With the wound that refuses to mend Deliver me from all of this I want you to quicken my end" he sees the world become a horrible place and he's not making it any better so before he can do more damage he wants someone to end his life. "Now you want to know You want a name You want to call me a motherfucker? Now you want to know You want a name You want to say it doesn't matter?" this part is just letting them know that if he's insulted it won't bother him because he will get back at them. "Now that you wanna know Now you wanna name Now you wanna place Now you wanna time Now you want it all" he's challenging his enemies to a fight that will determine the way things end. well in overall i think this is one of the better songs in the new album, great music, great lyrics, great vocals. disturbed has done it again! keep it up! |
