To me this is a song that deals with an abusive relationship on his part. Like when it says: "Am I not scary enough for you" Its like he is physically threatening her as if saying: "I'm being very strict and controlling you and your not listening to me. So I'll hurt you more this time so maybe then you'll listen" I find it REALLY sexy. Jyrki seems like he's trying to be sexy and dark. Idk about you guys, and I could be wrong. Thats just my interpreteation. |

Also when she says: "And our bruises are coming, but we will never fold" maybe her parents pressured and wanted her to work so much that they hit her when she didn't do well enough in an act/commercial or whetever (she was a child actress) |

I was listening to my local radio station and Jenny and the guitariust from Rilo Kiley were in Towson University (my local college) performing last month. Jenny said was a child actress. So prehaps, her parents pressured her a lot to be successful and famous. A LOT of parents of child entertainers pressure they're kids to be what and who they could never be. Like the moms who pressure their daughters to be ballerinas only b/c they were never able to as a child. So maybe, to Jenny's parents, she was their "silver lining" but she resents that now and by her saying "I'm gold" kinda tells my she's saying: "Haha, I'm more valuable now without you." or whatever. For the longest time I thought the lyrics were: "I was your silver linging, but now I'm GONE." I suppose I was mistaken. =/ |

I love this song, I relate to it SO much! With: "I commit sins everyday, but I never give my soul away cuz I still got some respect for you in the end" is to me a little resentment against the Lord and he's a little pissed that the Lord let his relationship break apart. |

Well, not to be geekish, but I read a statement Jyrki made about it and he said that it was based on a movie. Idk if the movie is under the same title, but he said it had to do with this geeky guy and he makes a "frankenstein" girl and shes slutty. Ect. Idk where I read it, I jsut remember it. =P |
