| The Sound of Animals Fighting – Stockhausen, es ist Ihr Gehirn, das ich suche Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'm with The Buck on this one, it makes exact sense, with the repeated "I'm sorry" going throughout. And especially with the line "your stamina plays tricks on us, it's no measure of adoration" I think it's about someone being impotent. | |
| We Are Scientists – Chick Lit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm in with zedzed on this one, this is a top on the album, the upbeat riffs with that little synth slide underneath is awesome, and with the lyrics seem to be all about not just taking everything people throw at you and pushing back if they're kicking you about - the title also goes with that, since that's what alot of chic lit is about. | |

Pretty sure the lyrics are: "Like candles in the city, they never looked so pretty Like power cuts and blackouts Sleeping like babies" |

| Oceansize – Savant Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm pretty sure it's "All I wanted's not which I gave" also unsure if it's "future days" or "future age" but good job. And awesome song, first time I heard it, after the first chords I had to stop everything I was doing and just...listen. It rivals Music For A Nurse or Ornament in my eyes. |

| Yeah, he's saying (well, screaming) "Confess" not "Take this" | |
| Bloc Party – Emma Kate's Accident Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It can't really be about much else than domestic violence and an abusive relationship to me. To me it's from the point of view of a friend to this girl (presumably Emma Kate) who knows, and can see all these things that his friend is going through, and it tears him up inside, because she's lying and trying to hold on but, as the lyrics say, he knows the truth. The "There's a difference between loving and being in love" in my mind means the friend is almost pleading with her, begging her to see the difference. And the whole song is breaking the friend's heart because there's nothing he can do. |

| Bloc Party – Compliments Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To me this song is all about futility and wasting away, that feeling of pointlessness and a lack of motivation for anything. It's like in our society, why bother - whatever you do, it'll come to nought. In modern western society, we all get pressured to do more, be something, to learn more, get fitter, earn more and in the end - it all comes to this song, after so many pressures and after all the things we get desensitised to from the TV, radio, internet, whatever, we end up thinking why bother? | |
| Bloc Party – The Prayer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Putting ROCKOWNTZU and all that lovely anger to one side... This is the brilliant embodyment of that going-out mood. As the lyrics and title say - it's The Prayer of everyone out to hit the floor, that little voice in your head that says "just once, here and now, please let me be the best". Because we all want, in our heart of hearts to shine and to impress and equally all fear, in our heart of hearts, that we'll fail, or look stupid, or be laughed at. y2jollie and LiamT seem to have it down pat. On a little note, this song has been remixed all over the shop, I'd recommend The Prayer (Hadouken! Remix) for it's sheer exuberance, and The Prayer (Does It Offend You, Yeah? Remix) for it's really interesting mix of slowed down, calm sections and dance-out sections. |

| Bloc Party – SRXT Lyrics | 18 years ago |

To clarify for some people, SRXT is from the drug Seroxat, which is an anti depressant. The song was origionally going to be called Seroxat, but for legal reasons they had to change it - so they removed all the vowels and came up with SRXT. Alot of people (myself included) think this is about suicide, the washed out underground voice, the drifting vocals and guitars all give a feeling of disconnection and the lyrics are extremely powerful - it seems to be all about leaving, and saying goodbye (which fits with suicide). I completely go with Whill on he says - so read his comment. I have to say, it is a fantastic round off to the album, the album can be read(as the title rather suggests) a weekend in the city, about all the highs and lows you go through, the dancing, the lazy afternoons, all the tension that's constantly pushing on you. And then comes is the conclusion to the story, that after all these experiences, when you're tired, and washed out, and a little lonely - you come to SRXT. Lastly, it's kinda important to know that Seroxat is a highly controversial anti-depressant, because one of it's side effects can be suicidal ideation. |
