The song is about Darren when he was a little boy, I guess the domestic abuse in his family while growing up is fairly well documented by now. The rest has been said! This is one of the most disturbing songs I've ever heard, and my heart just bled for that little boy that was Darren. No kid should ever be driven to thinking such thoughts. |

Ha ha, x_hotelpaper, you unbeknowingly hit the nail on the head! Darren wrote Light when he was going through a horrible time in his life, and then discovered his best friend Leonie was pregnant. The baby, Calvin, became Darren's godson and Darren talks about him now and then. I love it even more because it reminds me of the exact way I felt when I found out my sister was pregnant - I wasn't having the best time of it either, and then this truly magical thing happened and new life was created. (Sorry, I'm getting sloppy. I'll stop.) |

As Darren's said, the main basis of this song was making the huge decision to move from America to England to be with Richard, his now-hubby. Also the fact that he felt like he'd been with Richard in another time and place, and had lived in England before too. Nice pick-up on the Alfred Douglas reference, that one flew right by me! |
