The song is probably about the speaker being dumped or rejected by a girl because she doesn't want to be "stuck" in a relationship all summer long. Nobody wants to get stuck for the summer [Nobody wants to be in the same relationship all summer long] Started with one and we ended with another [i.e., one lover] Scratch your name in my side [i.e., the side of a tree, which seems contradictory to the meaning of the song, as lovers' initials are carved into a tree to represent something long-lasting, but in this context, the girl may do this as the only mark of her having been there, as if she is carving her name and then leaving it at that.] It's all about making good time [Going through as many lovers as possible] Sorry if that was really obvious, but I thought it was such a cute song. |
