| THIS is the first metal song I ever liked. I don't know why .. I saw the video.. and I just liked it.. I kind of call Still Remains my gateway drug to metal. ...because, now, my favorite band is Demon Hunter.. and most of my favorite bands are pretty heavy... oh.. and the first metal cd I ever bought was by Still Remains... ...... sadly, I sort of forgot about this band.. until yesterday at Cornerstone festival.. where I saw them make their last performance.. and i was reminded of how awesome they are | |

hey, Velrex, I just saw 2001: A Space Odyssey ..and yes ... I'm pretty sure he is quoting the movie.. I even googled it ... (from the movie): "HAL: Just what do you think you're doing, Dave? ..... dude no! when i first heard this song that's what i thought, too... but this is what i now think it means .. "I'm sending this letter to you, in hopes that it finds you well." .........i think that letter might mean the Bible or something.. or whatever way God reveals himself to someone. "I'm a million miles away from you. I can't get you off my mind, not that I’m trying" .... God feels very far from us at times .. and for people who aren't Christains it's very much a million miles.. God is always thinking of us and he cares about us.. "all I want is to hold you again" ..God wants to be close to us with that loving relationship, and wants us to be back with him, even if we have back-slidden.. ...............unless it really is just a song to a girlfriend ..and i just got that interp out of it .. but i always try to find a deeper meaning to a song ... and it would be cool if i found out from the band themselves ... but bands are so hard to contact |

here's my breakdown (ok i will probably miss-spell stuff, but please don't hate me for that)::: first two lines are talking about how the worldly fufillment brings nothing... next line is rather litteral... next line i think is saying that God's words alone aren't enough to make us better (not yet saying that we have to make the next step) "But i'm almost out of breath from saying things that i'll regret."... i think thats pretty litteral, but if i am wrong.. someone make a comment... the next line "my time is over" is about how the part of my life centering on what I myself desire and want is coming to an end .. next line.. to live life to it's fullest can't be completed without a close relationsship with God ... "I'm infected with you, pull the plug already. Tell me before i go, that your infected with me. " .. i think God is the one saying that part ..(i think a different voice is used..).. the infection is God's insane unconditional love for us. The plug is the life support represented by the world and its desires we have. That next line is God asking us, after unplugging the world's false life support, to allow the infection of his love to take over. ....this section I'm not completely sure on .."I cant remember if i ever took a minute to say. That if it had to be now, i'm glad it had to be me. I cant recuperate, i'm never going to leave here alive. Just help me throu this, dont let me die here." ..but i think it is talking about dying to self, and need of God to continue this releationship, and that I don't want this to end and die away... ..the next lines are the chorus obviously, ... then .."I'm killing time just trying to find the words that fall so short of you." ...is feeling helpless in this standard that I want to live up to.... "I'm loosing sleep, i cant compete, i'm giving out." .. loosing sleep seems to be litteral. Then, what i can to on my own can't compete with what I can do with God. I'm giving up on my own plans, and seeking God's perfect plan he let's us choose to follow. "I can't do this alone" i think is litteral, like realizing I need God's strength in me to help me in this whole thing... ....ok.. i'm sure i made typos... but try to get over that, and if you disagree with my interpretation, i would love replies... (I'm going to turn this into a discussion topic for my youth group ..(I'm a student leader .. so like.. I'm not a youth pastor that has had Bible School and stuff..) |
