Some Corrections: So now "which" one is the owner of the friends we made together fall off "of" the earth and I'll see ya later. "Give" me my Zeppelin CDs Where's all my "Kyuss" records |

This is a great song with really powerful lyrics. Here's what I got from it: The song starts off innocently, the individual is bragging about their abilities, kinda like a kid bragging to their parents (Look what I can do!). It then seems like the person is realizing what their capable of doing, some nobel things (thrift shop), and some great things (antibiotics), or some manipulative things (buy a product, strings to control). In short, it's the development of an individual (bright young minds?), and how some grow up to achieve great things, some dedicate their lives to nobel causes, and some manipulate, control and seek more power. (interestingly, with whatever "path" that is taken, there is a great amount of power that comes with it, the power to cure, kill, etc.). The song is rife with politics; Americans have a great amount of influence globally, we give out most of the aid, we also police the world with our military. In a sense the song can be referencing the American people in general, the course our nation takes politically, morally, and otherwise is influenced by who we elect, and as a consequence, we decide wether or not to "hand out a million vaccinations, or let em all die in exasperation". Sorry to rant, the short version: we the people have the power. It's easy to blame Bush, or whoever, but we have the ability to put pressure on the elected officials to get things done, be it raise the EPA standards for cars, continue to "do whatever we want with no permission" like torture people and wage war, or help eradicate diseases. We've been riding with no handlebars! |

"I'm moving slow Like a glacier melting Watch me dissipate I switched to love in an empty world But all I found was hate" I think it should be "I searched for love in an empty world" |
