| Fourth of July – Be Careful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| "You don't have to be so mean to make someone else agree." This album is all too close. | |
| Fourth of July – Long Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this band. A friend told me the lyrics were to superficial, and I agreed, but I still relate to it all to much. This album was my favorite of 2007. This song is about feeling guilty about trying to get over a relationship, and feeling like your being led on, but at the same time not caring and (almost) encouraging it. |

| Jackson Browne – The Late Show Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I know people say this all the time, but I really can't believe no one has commented on this song! It is so painfully honest at times, "No one ever talks about their feelings anyway Without dressing them in dreams and laughter I guess it's just too painful otherwise," but still tries to be positive. It's such a romantic song. I used to think the end was kind of lame, but it really grows on you. It fits. I wonder if it is a real experience that he had at one time (because the subtle details sort of suggest it so) or if it is just him imagining? |

| Sage Francis – Going Back To Rehab Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is about a friend of Sage's who went to rehab (obviously), but in a lot of rehab places they fill you with Christian ideas and morals (AA does this). And Sage just sees this as a weak substitution, and not really a solution. Such as the line buspassninja brought up of, "You cant match magic with an addict thats got a mapping compass." I think Sage sees real human connections as more of a solution than Christianity, and that's sort of the point of this song. Rather than finding a 'friend in Christ' he also finds a few spikes which he uses as bike pegs, like rather than finding some fake idea, he finds real and genuine activities. But a great song. I'm not sure about the 13 steps line at the end. I think the friend might have died at some point, and the thirteenth step was a step into death? I'm just guessing here, but the line, "he really did love you, you know.." seems to suggest some funeral type setting. Agreed, a great song. |

And also, Little Wings released three albums referred to as The Wonder Trilogy. The basic idea was that life was wonderful and we're surrounded by wonderful things all the time. Sounds cheesy here, but they are good albums. But this comes into play with the line, "life is so incredible. inspiring and terrible, but mostly fucking wonderful." |

| Dillinger Four – The Great American Going Out Of Business Sale Lyrics | 18 years ago |

For anyone who didn't realize it, the last lines, "Mixing pop and politics..." is a take off a really good Billy Bragg song called Waiting for the Great Leap Forward. http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=117905 The Billy Bragg lyrics are: Mixing pop and politics he asks me what the use is I offer him embarrassment and my usual excuses |

| Cursive – Pulse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think the line, "Well now that God is an atheist, I can sleep at night" is meant to imply that even God now has his doubt's. Saying that God doesn't even believe this, or has great doubts, and he finds that comforting enough so he can sleep at night. | |
| The World/Inferno Friendship Society – Heart Attack '64 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| "..well the dope and the wine and the stage; they gave back o me what I gave. What a wonderful world." | |

"..in a razor town the only thing that matters tends to bring you down..." Great. |

| Sunset Rubdown – The Mending of the Gown Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think "Saying, “I am the water at the foot of the palms, oh I am sand and wind and the shit in your nose," is really "Saying, “I am the water at the foot of the palms, oh I am sand and wind and the shitty mirage," Also "THIS SHIP WILL HAVE TO GO DOWN" is "THIS SHIP WAS BUILT TO GO DOWN" I love his imagery. |
