| Lisa Mitchell – Stevie Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i remember lisa saying at a gig that she had a falling out with her best friend and that's what this song was about. i think they were best friends but the friend got really protective especially after she became famous and she suddenly had a lot of new friends. it sounds like stevie just stopped talking to her all of a sudden and lisas trying to tell her that she still holds their friendship in high regard. it sounds like stevie is a very conservative friend and didnt approve. | |

To me there seems to be two perspectives in this song, both relating to the protagonist and relationship with god. The first 3 stanzas coming from the protagonist's perspective. Like someone mentioned before, she'd thrown away her faith which made her a "dope" (mockery from friends??), and drank alot, etc... however, when someone close to her passed away, she saw the value of her faith and she's telling god that she can love him again. From "it can have no bounds" onwards, it appears that god may be singing back to her? That his love for her is boundless and he would take her through the darkness. His love for her will never change in size and "runs deep"... The hawk imagery says to me that she wants to run wild again, and there's so many temptations (hawk's pecking) to take away from her re-found comfort and healing (symbolised in a poultice). In regards to the verse in Matthew. I think she might be talking about the Holy Ghost (coming as flames at the last supper), describing him as a "low-down pest" that says "You will be free". I know that christians often describe their moral convictions as "signs from the holy ghost"... so perhaps she sees guilty convictions as pests. |

| Sarah Blasko – Planet New Year Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| to me it sounds like she was never totally into her relationship with God because her biggest passion in life was music, hence "wasting all God's time" because in the past she spent so much time in the church and now she's not anymore. her video shows her marrying a piano, so perhaps its about her commitment to music instead of the church. | |
