It's about the "Black Flights" and torture in the war against terror. And it's from both perspectives, the torturer and the victim. Interesting lyrics, pity the music is such a bore, like on most songs of the new album. |

| Deftones – Minerva Lyrics

To me this always has been an anti-war song, the most political Chino could get. Minerva was the goddess of wisdom and the "good war" (as an antipode to Mars), so he calls to her to "bring back peace to the earth". The record was released just about the start of the Iraq War, so I guess it is a methaphorical comment to that.
And Minerva also "invented" music, so he want's her song to save us and stop this madness. |

In the booklet it's
"I know it, I think I know it from a hymn"
It's about death, I guess. |

Does anybody else want to quote the "memory of a window"-Part? It just happened 32 times in this discussion.
But apart from that, this is a really great song and the only 3eb Song I'm still listening to. It's way larger than the band itself.

Not just revionist history, but history at all. It's made by the strong men, not "good" or "great". They're just getting great in our history books. |

This incredibly beautiful song is about friendship between a boy and a girl, not a relationship. The relevant lines is "You've got a baby of your own, when your baby's GONE, she be the one, to catch you when you fall"
It's not a standart love song, it's about "more than love". And there are not enough songs about friendship. |

It's about a relationship and how it protects him from the outside world, also about denial and how you can life a normal live with your partner when there's war everywhere and your conscious about that.
And it's pillow talk, not pill talk. But maybe there are some drugs involved, because of the "She cut me a line and she turned me on"-Line.
"It's wartime everytime
Small talk everytime
It's my favourite chloroform" is just great. It's like a life motto for me. |

The song always makes me think about the spanish civil war and the republican fighters who had to hide themselves and their families. But that's just my association, don't think it's the right interpretation. |

Yep. The "They pass a bottle like it is water,
And soon they’ll be flying" part is pretty obvious. It' about hiding from the world and drinking. |

One of the best songs of one of the best rappers ever. The flow is incredible, those loser rap kiddies in the top100 should learn from that. |

The 17th Of June is a street in Berlin (Straße des 17. Juni) named after a uprising in 1953 in East Berlin which was put down by the communists. It leads through the Tiergarten, a huge park, which was right next to the wall. There you can still spend your summer in Berlin, but it won't be so quit now becoming centre of the city again. |

I think it's about trying to start a relationship and being rejected. The political thing is just a metaphor. |
