I think this song is a political statement about upper and lower classes. A man working hard every day not earning enough to feed his family. But, it seems like it's a choice to the man. The line "and if we're in the garden don't you know that our bellies are full
now that heaven's out the way" suggests that he could have been a corporate business man or such and chose not to because he believes it's corrupt. |
