IMO, he is talking to or about those fake tv preachers like Robert Tilton, saying that no matter what they say, nobody in the congregation (or what have you) is getting any help or moral guidance. "While you're screaming, our hearts are dying". That does it for me. I mean, God never screams at anybody. And I don't think it's a poetic word for talking or anything. Think about it, most of those hypocritical and money-hungry preachers yell all the time, but everyone is still dying inside because they "can only live so long without the truth". I would almost agree about the song being from God to whomever, but the line "while the current pulls me under" is just too indicitive of a frail and faulty human being struggling to save the person he loves from total self-destruction. So yeah, Christian bands don't always sing about God, that would get very mediocre in terms of lyricism. Oh and I am Christian, I'm just not diluting myself to desperately relate every song lyric to God, that's just immature. Autumn Abandoned and Viva Emily got it exactly, Song of Songs, although this is a site for individual interpretation, I think you're giving the band too much credit. I think you're a little too smart, lol. The writer is only about 20 years old (I'm 20 too, so no old man cracks). It was a great example, though. |

First words until "Who will..." Means that someone, a man, can hear death calling to him, and he wants somone to save him. "You must..." until "It's all..." means that he still hasn't found anybody, and ponders attempting to save himself. Then another person shows him Jesus, and proceeds to explain how Christ has saved him, and calls on the main character to decide whether or not to call on Christ. The man does, then becomes more confident and is able to shut up death's call, and turns his life around to glorify God. Then he praises Jesus for what he's done for him, and he has also succeeded in opening his entire family's eyes (my favorite lyric), proclaiming himself to be a warrior against death and hell. The last line means that this author's story is supposed to speak to the reader/listener. |

I agree with Atreyukidd whole heartedly. I'm Christian, but come on, this is a screamo band. What do screamo bands sing about? GIRLS. Albeit, this is a much more mature take on a relationship, this is definitely about a girl, I sense that kind of connection right off the bat. And I'm not entirely sure that Emery ever sings about God, besides mentioning God passively a couple times. I mean, look at the other songs on that album, stuff like having sex to be closer, not wanting to break up with girlfriend, regretting doing so and so on. I mean, they sing about girls and relationships constantly, that's just what they do. Like Zao's lead singer always writes about dead friends and family and depression. It's just their platform. I think you brothers and sisters in Christ are just diluting yourselves to feel good about listening to this band. Get real, the only Christian "youth" music that openly professes Christ is Metal and Rap. |
