This song is a great example of how DMB songs can find relevance no matter what. When I first heard this song I was reading the book "Rebbecca" by Daphne DuMaurier for school. Terrible book, never read it. But This song reminded me of how Rebbecca almost feels like she's dying at times, even in her lavish world. |

So for some reason I always imagine myself singing this if my life were a musical. Not sure why but I think it works.

| Blues Traveler – The Mountains Win Again Lyrics

I think that like a lot of other Blues Traveler songs, this song has many, MANY meanings. There's the literal definition, which is about totally breaking down and surrendering to nature, kind of like losing in a relationship, then heading up into the Canadian Rockies with, like, his dog or something, and just going on a quest for solitude. Then there's the multiple possible explanations for what the mountains symbolize. To me, I think that all of you are right in that respect. |

Listen. Here's my take. So, maybe this is just because of the fact that I first heard this song while reading a book about Napoleon, but I think that this song is about the exiles of both Louis XVI and Napoleon. When you think about it though, they really parallel. Anyhow, the basic theme here is the lonesomeness and despair of exile. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Mrs. McGrath Lyrics

Why hasn't anyone commented? So this song's about how this Irish guy, Ted McGrath, joins the British Army, and gets sent down to Iberia to fight Napoleon in the Peninsular War. While in Portugal, he loses his legs to a cannon ball, probably in either the Battle of Barrosa, or the Battle of Fuentes de Onoro (Both having taken place on and around May 5. The song ends with with a statement which can be applied to America's current situation in Iraq, and Springsteen probably chose the song for exactly that reason.
"All foreign wars I do proclaim
Live on the blood and the mother's pain
I'd rather have my son as he used to be
Than the King of America and his whole navy"
Hope I helped. |

This song is so sweet. It's something I wish I could say to girls. Raw emotion, you know? It's truly a great song of rock and roll, by a great artist of rock and roll, Van the Man. |

Poor whores.
In all seriousness, though, the fact that these old men can still rock a song about a whorehouse is admirable. Rock on ZZ Top. |

Tehe. This song reminds me of when I wore a suit to my 8th grade dance. I was walking down the hallway looking all sophisticated, when this guy goes "What the hell are you, a Naval Captain?" then the guy standing next to him goes, "Sharp dressed man."
It is true every girl is crazy about a sharp dressed man. I wanna use this song to bring back the days of guys dressing like respectable members of society, not like schlubs. |

I think that the factory girls are the girls who worked in American factories in the early 1800's. Ironic that Flogging Molly sings this song, 'cause the Irish immigrants replaced the girls. |

If you think this song is about loving America, you're a dumbshit, if you think it's about hating America, you're more of a dumbshit. It is what it is. I'd say Kerry can use it but Bush can't. |

Maria seems like the kind of person who stands up for what they believe in. I know someone who is really conservative, and I'm liberal, but she actually backs up her opinions with logic and stuff. It's nice to know that there are some people who will form their OWN opinions. |

You know, I was just thinking about this song. Could it be about a Protestant Catholic forbidden romance? Of course, I briefly had my own Protestant girlfriend. Then again, I'm not from west Belfast, so it's no big deal |

I'm gonna actually go really deep here and say this song's about The War of Jenkins' Ear, a.k.a. King George's War, to my brothers across the pond. The privateer Sir Robert Jenkins had his ship stopped by a Spaniard named Cortes and had his ear cut off, starting a war between Great Britain and Spain. |

If you ask me, most Flogging Molly songs can be about the conflicts. This one seems less violent than say... Rebels of the Sacred Heart. It seems to be wanting to end the ancient conflict. But a smile never grins without tears to begin... |

Let me tell you the truth. Dave King is religious, but like all good Catholics, he likes to poke fun and question the Vatican. Also, when taken quite literally, the song can be interpreted as the confessions of a rebel who has just spent the day kneecapping Protestants. |
