alot of you say that it about how you can't be neutral but I think its more sarcastic-the bridge says it all: "This is a chance to set things straight To bend or break the rules back into place There is no middle ground, no compromise, we've drawn the line With perfect aim, we stand back and throw Glass windows break and it's all about to blow Lights go out as we pass the torch again In hope that is stays lit Neutrality means that you don't really care Cuz the struggle goes on whether or not youre there Blind and unaware" I think this is from the point of view for people that decide they are right and then resort to violence, even though they should be compromising because people's minds aren't going to change. and also that if we continue this way the "torch", or the human race, will go out. |

I don't know what religion the writer is but to me I think this song is about someone who doesn't believe what his lover or friend believes and that person wants to "save" them. "There is no reconciliation that will put me in my place" "uncurled the fingers in your hand" could be referring to praying I doubt that was the writer's intention but thats my take on it |

| Thrice – Don't Tell And We Won't Ask Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| thank you balls deep. I HIGHLY DOUBT this song is about abortion seeing as how the entire first verse makes can't possibly be associated with it. i just started listening to thrice but with their lyrics and them touring with rise against they seem pretty liberal. and im not going to assume that the writer is prochoice, but its very likely | |

Sorry if anyone said this already, I went through the first couple pages but it would take to long to read through all of them. Alot of people seem to think this song is about Jesus, but i think that the meaning is more anti-religious. First of all, in the second part of the chorus he says "omnipotence, nurturing malevolence" which means that god is nurturing the evil in the world, and allowing it to grow. In the second verse i believe they are talking about the bible. "Steal away the darkened pages, hidden so shamefully. I'll still feel the violence of the lines." I think that here he is saying that the church will hide the parts in the bible that speak hatred like the parts where 'God' speaks against homosexuality, but even if they dont reference it, it will still hurt him. As for the rest of the song i think its talking about how bad the world is. So yeah, those are my thoughts on the song. I really like its meaning, or atleast what I think its meaning is. |

| i like the transition from porphyria cutanea tarda to this song, it makes it seem like the song is connected, which it is since they both use the metaphor of vampires | |
