This is the closing of the first half of 'The Fragile' I see the album almost as a Iliad epic poem. The protagonist has started by losing someone dear to him. Then tries to get them back. This is like the classical poems in which they descend into hell (in this case "The Great Below") as he tries to find that lost to him. But I'm gone a little outside the box with that... |

It seems like he loves someone - she's his world, and she changes his perspective on life "All the jagged edges disappear, Colors all are brighter when you're near, The stars are all afire in the sky". Then the turning point. She cheats on him, which to me makes more sense with the angsty "Why do you get all the love in the world" in the final part of the song, that he hates her for cheating on him (that she gets love from these other people). |
