This song is confirmed as being written for his religion teach, Ralph Serraville. He only made 1000 copies and all of the proceeds went to the charity that Serraville started, The Starvathon(AKA 30hr Famine) What a beautiful use of talent. The song is originally entitled Missing(Serraville) |

i think it's obviously a break-up song, but a few things stick out to me, mostly the "upside down" phrase possibly it could be the way images are viewed, as a metaphor for the way he sees "her" now they are apart and the repetition of "turns you around" could be about the confusion caused by the realization "fact not fiction for the first time in years" is possibly about the way he felt when he was with "her", like in a fairy tale. then progressively, as she left him, and as it dawned on him, the magical tale turned into a true story. i havent read anyone take a different approach to the "All the girls in every girlie magazine Can't make me feel any less alone" line, which could be a reference to a different kind of magazine, quite different from ones such as teen, or vogue....which explains how they do not make him feel any less alone [to be blunt] "I'm reaching for the phone To call at 7:03 And on your machine, I slur a plea For you to come home But I know it's too late" it sounds like either 7:03 was a preferred time to call each other, or perhaps he's been calling her every minute, which would explain the obscurity of the number. "I should have given you a reason to stay Given you a reason to stay....." self-explanatory, which is what led me to the break-up song conviction |
