ok so this song is fuckin awesome...the first time i heard this i was like this shit sucks and after the first 30 seconds turned it off...but then one day i just figured i'd listen to the rest and how he slowly brings in the beat is just awesome...the whole song is just him building the beat...best part about the song is after he says when i do my thing, yea...and just the snare comes in! wow whoever produced this song is legit |

the first time i heard this song was in the preview for Pinapple Express. i head it and thought it was amazing so i listened to it. my first impression listening to it was that its unbelievably catchy and that its just another drugy song...something to get high to. but then i got on here looked up the lyrics read what everyone thinks and watched the video.
i really think that its simply talking about the "thug" life and drug dealing is ruining peoples lives, taking away good oprotunities from young kids. like when the kids voice is over powered by the gun shots and cash register. its saying that kids dont have a voice to be heard anymore. the only thing important any more is how to make your money. i think that the visas part comes into play just meaning that drug dealing isn't just in the US, it's every where its global.
i don't know that much about M.I.A. well actualy none at all so this could all be wrong but i think when people get into how shes being political and that crap i think you're just overanalyzing the song too much. although i do hate when people like that Treese guy said it's sh** if you dont like the song dont listen to it. its not hurting you. music is meant to express what you feel...all kinds of music be it rap, rock, punk, metal, alternative...whatever! |
