to me, this song is about a boy and a girl *shockerrrr* they have a fatal attraction to each other, he's always bound to be broken by her, and she's the same way. they can't get enough of each other even though they both know its doomed. and people are just sayin that their makeup/breakup cycle is them having fun, but they seriously do care for each other...they just keep screwing up. so right now they're apart, but if she ever does come back into his life, he'd be willing to see her again and maybe give it another go. |

this is an AMAZING song, one of my favs off the album. ok, to me this song is about a person who lost the battle on whether to give up or keep trying. ("sold my soul to the darkening" allusion to cue the sun when he says "please don't think i plan to lose to the night") so he's given up and he's still crying out to his friends to understand that he hasn't really given up on life, but he just couldnt fight anymore. and that now he's scared to try again. he doesn't want to lose out on anything, and the fear of doing so is keeping him from trying at all. ("only fool that runs away from anything thats good for me") and he doesnt want to be kept in prayers...he wants somone to actually DO something about it and help him. just what i think. |
