i always thought it was about a relationship gone wrong. the singer (not matt, but the "speaker" of the song) had done some wrong to the girl. upset, she pushes him away, even though she's still in love with him. he's guilty about doing wrong, but can't bring himself to face her. "Come let the truth be shared, no one ever dared To break these endless lies, secretly she cries" both are still in love with each other ("the truth"), both pretend to hate each other, but neither one of them are willing to admit their still-lingering feelings. ("to break these endless lies") conclusion: the singer did her wrong, he's too ashamed to face her, the girl wants him to come rescue her from her misery. it's an endless cycle of suffering until someone comes forward. |
