i've listened to this song many many times and i've finally got it figured out. i always had some sort of an idea, but i think this one makes sense. well the intro is obviously about him being depressed and self injuring. "small, simple, safe price" this is him saying, cutting is a small and simple way to get rid of my emotional pain. then he starts to say "whats left but a section of pigmy sized cuts, much like the slew of a thousand unwantted fucks" hes starting to feel guilty about cutting, just like if you fuck one time too many and you just feel gross. then he just says, fuck ittt. and possibly goes too far, which leads to the "love is not like anything, especially a fucking kinfe", maybe feeling horrible that he let his broken heart lead him into cutting to deep. then you have him after his incident..living life as a fake, continuing with the cutting, becomming a different person. "look at me, can you tell, by the way i move and do my hair", possibly meaning he changed himself so that people would think everythings better, even though it isn't. "can you even tell"..he is hoping that someone will notice he isn't himself but doesn't care at the same time. "i'm alive, i'm the cleanest i have ever been" i find this very sarcastic, like hes saying, oohhh yeah i'm clean and alive, whooopie! even though inside hes still hurting. "i feel big, i feel tall, i feel dry" in his new image, he feels better, bigger, taller, but when he really things about it...."i'm a fake, i'm a fake, i'm a fake" he just feels like a big fat fake and wishes for him oldself back. "Do I drink? Do I date? I've got perfect placements. All my ink satisfied, In your eyes. I'm the biggest fan that I've got right now. I made sure that I look how I wanted to look. The people around me, The people surround me." he has started to hang around different people, and he is just compleatly different than before..and no one really likes him anymore, and he just feels out of his element. then the "i'm a fake comes" and hes just sitting there screamjng to himself about how he hates his new image and is miserable. "My stomach hurts now, And all tied off in lace. I pray, I beg, for anything to hit me in the face. And this sickness isn't me." this last part is how he ends up. hes making himself sick because he is so different, so fake, so not himself..and he just wants to wake up and go back to his normal self. but this new image he has created won't allow him to do it. "I pray to fall from grace. The last thing I see is feeling." this is him at the end, and he is numb to everything now. so yeah, in a nutshell, its about someone becomming something they aren't. :) take it or leave it. |
