can be taken on many levels. here is another look from nelly's perspective: "Honestly what will become of me, I don't like reality, It's way too clear to me, But really life is daily, We are what we don't see, We missed everything daydreaming" she knows fame is a blur and it can end quickly. she speculates about her future after she is done with the popular music scene. "Well the dogs were whistlin' a new tune Barkin' at the new moon Hoping it would come soon So that they could die" Could be talking about a new pop figure that the dogs (either music execs or fickle fans) are turning their attention towards, turning away from nelly. hoping the new artists with a new single will come out soon to complete the cycle and phase nelly out. "flames to dust" - nelly's albums are currently 'on fire' or big in the media, but soon they will circulate out of popularity and the cds people bought will collect dust on our shelves. "lovers to friends" - when a new song comes out we often say "i love that new nf song!" but a year after the album is out, that fades and we go back to just liking nelly. "Why do all good things come to an end?" - she wishes it doesn't have to be this way. just another view on the song. excellent. the end part is my fave. |
