Alkaline trio is considered a punk band by some, so everyone gets mad when they go on MTV/mainstream media. MTV is so bad because it stupefies and distracts the youth of america. It lets bands conform and compromise for material gain and fame. People get offended when "teeny-boppers" like "their" music because most of the time they dont understand what the music really means. The punky kids are the ones who get shit from all the mainstream kids because they are not understood. Its a huge slap in the face when the mainstream kids start getting into the music that you like, dont get it, and youre still the freak. It feels like someone (ie mtv) destroyed the music that you once cheld so dear. |

I used to listen to this album in sixth grade and this song didnt really mean anything to me at all. Seeing the lyrics with new eyes makes it mean so much now.. I think that its about feeling miserable all day every day and not bothering/wanting to fight it anymore, even though you know that you should and that the people around you want you to (intending to burn, pretending to fight it). When youre miserable for so long its almost comforting in a sickly way and the "hell" becomes home. |

I think its about the culture that goes along with being deeply involved in the music scene. Everyone is super close and everyone watches everyone elses back. Respect is also a bigg thing and they talk about that.. Now theres all these "posers" coming to shows to be cool because they saw some pop-rock band on TRL and now they're gonna be "xhxxcccxxxxxx punkk" cause it appeals to them. I think its talking about how you cant market the feeling you get when you really belong with all these people and everyone around you is like family. Pop-rock isnt the real thing. Pop-rock will NEVER do that. Its saying If you dont belong here then get out and dont ruin it for us cause this is our home. Its saying that its life long for them and theyre real, but these kids are just going through a phase so theyve gotta back off. We can see right through you and we're never going to respect you. While NFG is pop-rock, theyre legit. Thats why they sit well with so many hardcore kids. Their lyrics are like they took every problem, moral, and life story from the kids on the real scene and wrote them down. They are part of this giant family. They're really like us and they're respected for that. |

calm down guys. people have oppinions. go check out their myspace, theyve lost all their old fans and got new ones. a lot of people who liked suicide notes and the curse arent gonna like this. not cause the band is ahead of their fans, cause theyre goin soft hoping for airtime. i agree that some people come on sites like this trying to be hardcore sayin that its not "screamo" enough and theyre too "br00t4l" for anything less than grindcore, but some people honestly think it sucks. personally, i hate this song but i feel that its not atreyu, its their record company. theyve totally switched genres. theyre more of a pop-rock band with a metal image, now. id like to see them more how they used to be, and not ending up completely selling out for a spot on TRL. it seems to me that theyre trying to get up on MTV with avenged sevenfold and their breed of toned-down hardcore/metal that appeals to kids who wanna be hardcore but dont know what theyre doing. i know that some people think that theyre not sellouts, but look at their albums. they go from what they probably sounded like when they were local, before they got signed, and each album gets dramaticly softer. im not sure how many of you are into local music, but if a local band did what atreyu has done, theyd be torn apart and left for the vultures. and to scottboy, before you call people "whiney bitches gathering in arms," you may want to actually look at whats going on. there were like three people who said that they didnt like it. there were more people attacking the people who didnt like it. you are one of the whiney bitches gathering in arms. you got it wrong. you can be a fan and think some of their stuff is shit. people have different tastes, theres no need for an attack. you could calmly and sanely disagree instead of going on a rampage. no one said that they could do better, but just because you cant do better than something doesnt mean that you have to like it. |
