Rob Pat <3 this song, to me at least, seems to be being sung from Bella's POV. she was standing there by the broken tree, [how Edward would pale everything is comparison, an angel would look ghoulish next to him, a mere tree ...] her hands were all twisted, she was pointing at me. [Edward, being all vampyric as he is, invited her in] i was damned by the light coming out of her eyes, [self-explanatory] she spoke with a voice that disrupted the sky. she said "come on over to the bitter shade, [bitter-shade = the dark side, maybe? Even though Edward doesn't really want her to become immortal, I still believe that at some level, even in the first book, he wanted forever with Bella.] i will wrap you in my arms and you'll know you've been saved". [I'll keep you safe, protect you ... which fits with his, albeit, overprotective nature] let me sign, let me sign [her saying that she's all in.] I know this song wasn't written for Twilight, but it just fits really well - at least in my mind, it does. :) |

My perfect boyfriend cheated on me. And this the only song that I could absolutely, completely, totally relate to. I think this song is ALL about cheating. Or maybe that's just me. Brilliant song, nonetheless. Anyway, my best friend wrote a poem to help my get through everything, and she incorporated this song into it quite well. Here it goes: Because, that’s why. Because he was given that chance, but chose to mess it up. Because you know you deserve so much more. Because even with those fake sorries, you are able to see underneath it all. And you feel his pain, but you can’t help but notice that yours is twice as bad. Because he might try smiling and say it’ll be okay. But you know it won’t. Because every time you look at him, you’ll think of her. Because you say you need him, and that was his way of saying he needs you too. Because actions speak louder then words. Because he said making you smile became his number one wish. So why did he make you cry? Because he didn’t know what he had until it was gone. Because you have to be strong and show him what he lost. Because you have self respect, and know way too many people in this world that want to kill him right now. Because you are so special, and him saying that doesn’t mean anything. Because the word ‘love’ is abused in so many ways, and he abuses it using your name, everyday. Because he is a boy, not a man. Because a person with proper dignity would never do that. Not even to an enemy. Because you left him your heart, and with that he threw it right back at you. Because he is asking for it back, and messing with it, all over again. Because you would have taken a shot for him, without thinking twice. But he shot you down well before you had the chance. Because he only thought of himself, and a relationship is a two sided thing. And even though he is thinking of you now, the guilt is eating him alive. Because the guilt shouldn’t be there in the first place. Because it shouldn’t take anything for him to realize what you are. Because he uses sweet words, but they burn you more then fire itself. Because you’re hearing what he says, but you just can’t make a sound. Because you are afraid. Because no one deserves to feel that way, when you did nothing but love. Because you were alone, and he knew it. Because you are more alone now. Because you were holding on a rope, ten feet off the ground. Because he told you he needed you, and then cut you down. Because not only was he not there to catch you, but he was the cause of your fall. Because he slapped you with reality, and how showed you how dirty it can be. Because you loved him with a fire red, and now it’s turning blue. And you won’t feel the same love when you hug, anymore. Because the tension will overcome you, and the confusion will drive you insane. Because the worst part is there’s no one else to blame. Because he has made you loose yourself again, when the pieces of your heart only missed him. Because I feel your agony, when I’m a thousand miles away. Because I cannot bear to think about the pain you are feeling. Because I love you more than life itself. More than he ever says he will. Because it's too late to apologize. I think the above sums up the song perfectly. |
