This song sums up my life. It is perfect. I feel very strongly that this song is about someone who used to be happy, who used to have a relationship with God, who used to be in a circle of good friends. Then somewhere along the line something changed and they've turned back on God, doesn't give a shit about people who care for them, and isn't happy. Obviously Jesse has strong feelings on God (God and the Devil Are Raging Inside Me, the song Jesus Christ, etc) and the line "I was about my Father's work" really wouldn't make nearly as much sense if he was talking about his biological father. And having nothing to comfort you at night except everything you've done. He's been lead completely astray and he knows it was his own doing but he's not finding solace in it and he doesn't view God as something he can go back to. So he's looking for alternative sources for comfort: "If you'd be my breath/There is nothing I wouldn't give". |

| Yes, this is obviously about Pro-Life. This song is gross, dude. Orphanages suck, so let's kill the children instead. Yes, brilliantly logical idea. | |
