| Edit: "and the cops won't listen all night." I like the theory some dude said back there, this is sarcasm. | |

"There's 52 ways to murder anyone" - There are (usually) 52 Saturdays in a year the person in the song could be dating and killing, we're inclined to think women, on Saturday nights. Maybe in his time killing he has murdered 52 different women 52 different ways. One and two are the same, and they both work as well" - All methods he's used so far have achieved desired results. (the women die) "I'm coming clean for Amy" - I think Amy was one of his victims whom he totally fell in love with. "Julie doesn't scream as well" - After Amy he could not find any fulfillment in his victim(s) during the normal routine. Julie could represent 1-51 other women. "and the cops won't listen all night." - Perhaps he is only confessing for Amy, or for a select few other victims because the cops won't listen to him(they totally would for 52 murders, so maybe he has killed tons of people this line is kinda strange) "And so maybe I'll be over just as soon as i fill them all in" - his murdering escapade will be over once the cops have been filled in good and proper. Next few lines are reminiscing on Amy with some juicy 50s horror allusions thrown in. Chorus - No longer dating and killing on Saturday night, he breaks into tears as he remembers his brief time with Amy, regretting not telling her of his true feelings for her before she died. "As the Moon becomes the night time you go viciously, quietly away, I'm sitting in the bedroom: where we used to sit and smoke cigarettes. Now I'm watching you die." - His final moments with Amy. Gotta love that smokin' cigarettes in the bedroom like 50s youth feeling you get here. I dunno how you could think this song isn't about killing anyone, It's possible Graves wanted to write a song about regret due to some love problems he had in his life, and due to being in the misfits threw in the 50s horror theme into the song. Truth may never be known but this song definately involves a serial killer. My two cents, cheers. |
