ahhh i just thought about it a different way. rather than talking about the love he's giving, he's probably referring to "his love" being an affectionate term for the girl. in light of that, i think she's trapped in the nasty demeanour and can't become herself again maybe. and then of course if she dies then she most definitely can't redeem herself. |

maybe the girl is truly an angel but she's trying to show him that she isn't the good girl she is inside. and that's why the "halo and wings" are hidden. however, now that she's pretending to be not very nice she can't stop telling lies or having a "criminal mind". what i don't understand is the part where he says "But it's too late for his love Already caught in a trap" because he isn't saying that she's a nasty person playing nice because otherwise he wouldn't talk about the lies and the angel characteristics being hidden, would he? |

his voice. his voice is what makes the lyrics so touching. the way it drags on the words and makes them so soft, esp. as he goes higher on "it's alright by me". i just adore this song. more than anything. however, "If my dreams for us can't get you through Just one more day It's alright by me", sounds rather like he's giving up on whoever the song's about ?! |

I think that the actions of the step-child seem unprovoked. And perhaps the step-father does things which are unintentional e.g. chewing his food loudly or improperly. What suggests this is how he reacts by simply apologising. We don't even know that he has something to apologise for. Fantastically well thought out lyrics though. |
