Interesting, I received an email from a lady after she read my post...here is some of it "Hello. I saw your post on a website for song meanings...about the song "Aubrey" by Bread. First of all, let me offer my sympathies on the death of your little girl. My husband and I also have a daughter named Aubrey...and she has also passed away. It has been about 20 months now. Our Aubrey died when she was just a little over 5 months old due to SIDS. We had never heard the song before we named her, but a lot of people in our family would always ask us if we had. Finally we downloaded it. I think I was close to her delivery date. I would sing it over and over to her...even when she was here. The first time I heard it after her death was several months later. The words were so different...almost like I was hearing them for the first time. It is just so weird how everything seems to fit her life." WOW...is all I have to say. I have visited this sweet baby's memorial and corresponded with her mother...I have now been inspired to create a memorial for my Aubrey Nicole as well!! Gates is incredible!! |

| In 1996, my husband and I lost a newborn girl to a horrible birth defect called anencephaly. He name was Aubrey, and she lived about 1 minute after birth. While being very familiar with Bread, I guess I had never paid attention to this song. (We named her after my husband's uncle) This song...wow...how fitting! | |
