i think hes a man controlled more by his fear that anything else. with woman and friends and especially himself. if you look at his other work like figurine and the postal service a common theme present in most of the songs is low self-esteem, especially when it comes to relationships. knowing this, one trait of ppl that live that lifestyle are mistaken beliefs i think theyre called, like dont ever let your guard down or else something bad will happen etc. and this way of thinking changes you actually more than ppl would like to think so its a major part of his life. also i think hes more focused on not getting hurt when seeing woman than enjoying it, as in the songs before i go, the life etc. played as james figurine. so he takes a step back and realizes what he really is but he might think his false self is more appealling and he wants it back because its easier that way when he says youll beg to get it back. finally, his friends get tired of him cause of this and leave him, and then they tell him that thats what he was missing and prolly theyre tired of his bs and dont want to tell him and hurt his feeling, but its too late. so he takes it as them betraying him. hes scared because he realizes all of this "with self pity and fear" and his dreams he thought he had went down the drain when he realized himself. then, he doesnt know what to believe anymore cause you drown in confusion and you try to find some truth about life, which is our lives are all in our head and where we are today is led by predetermined factors (dumb luck) and the courage and talent might be as much about his music and himself. then finally, ending with you wake up and want it back. thats my opinion i like 8394147's also. |
