This song is about a person who was accepted into the war, with a walk on part, the war being life and the stresses and fears that go with it. walk on part means no walls or barriers, right into the reality of life. so he went in with a bright outlook because he was raised by overprotective parents who coddled him when he was down, never showed him the cruel side of life. so in essence, he is two people, the person in the war and the person at home. so when he realizes that life can be cruel and people can be cruel, he runs back to the warm loving place called home, the cage. So basically he could never find a balance for the two worlds, so he traded the walk on part for the lead role in the cage, the cage is where he feels most comfortable, but in the trade he is now stuck behind the wall where he is forever limited from social interaction. meaning he can't get too close or he will hit the wall again. the people outside the wall wishes he were here with them because we all have the same fears in life. |

it is obvious what this song means. everyone knows a person who plays music or sings or acts humorous constantly to make everyone else feel better. the only problem with that is people want it all the time, they want more and they want it on command, in doing that this person gets sad and starts to cry because the people he trusted now use him as a tool to escape reality. So his life consists of pleasing others but hardly pleasing himself. so the person without the straight mind is not happy with his life role and yet because he doesn't think the way normal society does, he is constantly being liked by people for the mere fact he can make them feel better. |
