Ween – Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down) Lyrics

I love ween, and I do appreciate the meaning/intention and creativity of this song, but I just can NOT listen to it that often, I mean really listen to it, because it is so disturbing. |

Graham Coxon – All Over Me Lyrics

This song is absolutely beautiful... and though it's kind of vague I agree that it speaks for itself, just gives powerful flashes of imagery and that is enough to, with the music, create a really strong feeling. |

so confused... if this isn't the cure's song, why did they have it up on their old webpage (the one with the bloodflowers layout and the lyrics to almost every song)? |

Guillemots – Cockateels Lyrics

it's way too bad that the new album got such bad reviews... I didn't like it at first but it has really grown on me. I think it's just different...
This song is one of my favorites... I think it's pretty straightforward... about a dreamer maybe. I always imagine his "imaginary lovers" as guardian angels or something like that, protecting the space by his side. very sweet stuff, and I LOVE the music, strange indian ripoff or not. |

i actually like this one... it's playful and fun, reminds me why I like robert as a singer, and I like his usage of the word 'infradig'... |

Kate Bush – Hounds of Love Lyrics

the futureheads' version is boring indie tripe...they can't even come close to doing the melody like kate.
amazing amazing song though. |

Blur – Song 2 Lyrics

tribute to pavement? nah I have to agree with buzztard. britpop was like the antithesis to american grunge music in so many ways, and with this clever 2 minute song, Damon proved the winner

Maxïmo Park – Parisian Skies Lyrics

"her passion never paled"
"we never lacked a thing"
"tiny veins"
This song is beautiful. Maximo Park really aren't getting enough recognition...none at all here in the states...but I think they are brilliant. |

erm, lyrics aren't quite correct
Love is a lie, which means I've been lied to
Love is a lie, which means I've been lying too
i'm pretty sure that's important.
amazing song though. love this band... |

I think this song is extraordinary. absolutely piercing vocal cries over the agitated and almost distressed sounding beat. I |

Rufus Wainwright – April Fools Lyrics

one of the best pop songs I've ever heard! to me it is someone who is taken in, and who knows they will always be a "fool" when it comes to love, but then always are hit with the hammer (reality / break-up / heartbreak, whatever) just to go and do it all again.
anyways, great to listen to when you are feeling cynical about love. |

Darren Hayes – The Tuning of Violins Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
Musically, THE best song on the new album, in my opinion. Haven't really had time to work out a personal interpretation of the lyrics, but that's the charm of it, it's complex and full of dream-like images. I think that overall I get a sense of being at peace, with the world, with circumstances, people, whatever. The title "The Tuning of Violins" seems to indicate things (maybe aspects of life and/or relationships) sliding almost naturally into place and into harmony with each other.
Love love love LOVE it. |

Darren Hayes – Void Lyrics

Desperately trying to fill an emotional "void" that someone has left in you by physical means.
Love the backing vocals that come in at the second verse- sounds like he's crying... |

Darren Hayes – Unlovable Lyrics

Who knew that such a wonderful lyricist/songwriter was hiding inside that pop singer? I was floored when I heard this for the first time; this is real poetry and on a completely different level than anything he ever did with Savage Garden.
Each word in the verses is perfectly chosen, and pierces precisely like a dagger wrought out of his pain.
As for the meaning, well it's pretty self explanatory. |

Darren Hayes – I Forgive You Lyrics
|
I think that this song is completely sarcastic, bitter, condescending, and that's why it's brilliant. The lines "I forgive you" are spoken with such contempt, and no bit of forgiveness at all! It's a wonderful example of how one can be singing something and quite obviously mean the exact opposite. |
