I agree with yesterdaystomorrow1. I guess it's about someone who probably doesn't really believe in love or at least not in all that "sentimental crap" but who *is* in love nevertheless, although the person would not admit it, not even to herself. But the speaker is in love with this person and knows that she loves her, too and even though she's giving her a hard time ("hard-hearted")she doesn't give up ("ready for a fight"). The person is a little nervous that maybe she (the speaker) is right and she really loves her (the speaker). Does anyone know the TV series Queer As Folk? This song always reminds me of Brian and Justin. Brian who always says he does't believe in love and never admits what he feels for Justin and Justin, who is that persistend little kid that (almost) never gives up although Brian pushes him away all the time. |

The first time I read the lyrics I thought it´s about someone who´s famous "can you hear the desperate cries that are calling out your name? twisting your arms, holding out their hands and tugging at your sleeve" that would be the crazy fans. "I can't bear the thought of losing, I dread the attention winning brings" He doesn´t like that he´s so famous but at the same time he wants to be successful. "I hit the ground and I'm still running but I need a place to stay tonight, I swear I'll be gone in the morning I just need somewhere warm to close my eyes" he runs away from all the fans and paparazzi etc. and looks for a place where he can calm down and where he can be who he really is. "the heart is something you can't control we either choose to follow or be left on our own" he finds that place in the presence of a girl who doesn´t see him as famous star but as a normal guy and he fell in love with her, even if that wasn´t his plan. "so we're leaving here on a less-travelled road as desperate cries grow louder, I know we're getting close" Then he has to go and he takes a less-travelld road, so there are no fans or reporters. But everytime he sees these people he thinks of her Well, but I think that doesn´t make any sense |
