| Death Cab for Cutie – Cath... Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Well, I've heard this song was written about the character Catherine, but, there are two Catherine's, mother and daughter, in the book and I can see this song pertaining to the both of them. The first, the mother, is described very well through the first verse, because while she is will the "good intentioned" and high-status man, her heart still belongs to Heathcliff, and so she's lost. The second verse describes the daughters life, who was forced to marry a man who barely loved her, and she was disillusioned into loving him, while there were so many more who felt true love for her. The elegance of a wedding she deserved were completely destroyed. |

| Vienna Teng – The Tower Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is definately one of the major Vienna Teng songs that I connect with. Its mainly about the type of people who merely are always there for others, and really never burden others with their problems. But as times grow difficult, they try to keep their sturdy composure of being the one there for everyone, but it's getting hard, as Teng puts it "A flower trying to bloom in the snow" I love this song because I'm the one who usually deals with my friends problems, and even though I currently don't have to deal with anything, if anything dramatic does ever happen to me, I have a feeling this song describes it perfectly. Beautifully written and performed. |

| Within Temptation – Mother Earth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Does anyone know weather Within Temptation is Pagan or Christian? From this song, I assumed Pagan because it's all about Mother Gaia, but in their new CD there are many Christian references to it, so I'm a bit confused... | |
| Blackmore's Night – Diamonds And Rust Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Wow--I'm surprised there isn't many comments for any of Blackmore's songs. They're lyrics and music is so pretty, well, maybe it's just me then. This song is one of my favorites of theirs, it's meaning is pretty basic, it's of a woman who is suddenly speaking to her ex again, and she starts to remember all about him. There's probably a deeper meaning within it, but that's the basic. | |
| Vanessa Carlton – She Floats Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think I have to agree with the idea of this song being about a ghost. The lyrics (which I must add are amazingly beautiful) seem to fit in this concept that the "she" being referred to is some sort of spirit. "She's as fine as dandelions" and "dry as clear blue skies" somewhat support the whole ghost theory, because ghosts are portrayed as translucent, light beings. Not much affected by the human world. Also, the whole screaming part is one of the best parts of the song. It's just so powerful and it seems to contradict the peaceful aura the song was giving out before it to a more frightening and relieving sense. I see it as part of the whole suicidal idea as well, the beginning of the song is talking about her phantom state, and the screaming is a flashback or something to her death, mostly suicidal I'd imagine. Love the song though, it's one of her better ones, along with wanted, half a week before the winter, and rinse. The ones with the most meaning are my favorites of hers, some of them just are too bouncy and preppy, this one is beautiful though. |
