well done flos_sapientum. this song is most definately about the perspective of life and how most people don't really see their impact or lack thereof. it has a very "fuck the mainstream, fuck conformity, fuck ignorance i'll just do what i want" feel to it. but it isn't angry, it has more of an enlightened tone. i feel as though it's saying that whatever we do doesn't really matter so why not just live for yourself? you want to use steak knives as book marks? go right ahead! people will either think you're crazy or innovative, but either way what they think doesn't matter. it's about you and what you want to do to make your life as meaningful to yourself as you possibly can. to forget doing what you're supposed to and carve your own path. because in the end we're nothing. irrelevant. lunch for the sky. duh. |

this song's about me. the end. so basically it's about this girl, who has all these dreams and aspirations but she didn't do shit about them because no one believed in her. then finally one day she gets the nerve to prove them all wrong. she runs away. but SUPRISE life sucks and she fails. i feel like she drives herself insane because of her failure. maybe it was because she had no support, no one to rely on. but she still has her spark(her touch was the feel of magical, her eyes were the color of beautiful) and even though her life sucks now, it's better than going back home where she'll only hear "i told you so"s from the people who never believed in her. but then the last stanza is about those people realising how much it sucks that she's gone. she "haunts" them and they realised they should've believed and loved her all along. but nope. she's gone for good. |

i kindof feel like this song’s about death, it feels like a goodbye song to me. the actual title of this track is The Boat Song, and there’s supposed to be a Viking tradition of sending off the dead in flaming boats. so the chorus about rowing a boat to the OTHER shore is like crossing over to the OTHER side. and then i feel like the book he’s talking about could be the Bible because he said he lent the book to help the person over night, and the Bible is definately a comfort book for some people. also light coming from open eyes, is like the realisation death is upon them, but it’s been accepted. it goes on to talk about this during the college years stanza, with holding close the fear and hate of letting go. the next couple lines seem to be talking about maybe squaring up or making peace with God or some other higher power before the person goes, as symbolized by the Sunday confession lines and then on with the line “it’s all fine with me” so in conclusion i feel like this song is about accepting death as a natural inevitability. the chorus also creates a sense that there's a greater being waiting for us when we die, like with the hold hand holding and "we". it creates a sense of comfort really. and i love how Ludo’s able to take a topic that’s kindof frightening for most and turn it into something so relaxing and pretty. love this band |

it's kind of an obvious meaning, basically talking about how most of the time hormones and heart overrule logical thought. this song seems to be about a girl who's basically using a guy for sex, like a fuckbuddy sort of relationship. but as it usually goes, one of the two can't keep the sex casual and starts developing feelings for the other. in this case it's the guy. he seems to be fooling himself into thinking their relationship is more than purely sex as he states in the lines "there were nights when i was sure your love was all i had pining through the door you left through". but he also states earlier that he knows she's just in it for the sex when he says "put me in my proper place, i'm not the one for you" he KNOWS he shouldn't be sleeping with her because that's all she wants however there's "a mutiny below". so instead of using his head, he thinks with his dick and fucks her anyways. in the last lines of the song he's admitting that he'll never be able to deny her and states she's the one who will have to end it. she must let him go. |

i'm so transfixed by this song. i haven't been able to get my mind off of it haha i love how well ludo was able to mix beauty and darkness in such a captivating manner. like previously mentioned it's clearly a song about an intense love. in a way it reminds me of "a little piece of heaven" by avenged sevenfold, but this song's much more mature lyrically. the song really shows how strong love can be. it's talking about not only loving the person for their personality or looks, but also for their basic components such as blood, guts and bone and just wanting to become a part of the other person. to engulf them fully and become one. it's deliciously creepy and even slightly romantic. mad awesome. MAD awesome. |

this song has been in my head alllllll day. danny's got such an amazing voice um as far as meaning goes... i'm thinking it's about a guy with a guilty conscience. it seems to me that the singer has been cheating on his girlfriend, although at first glance it seems he's the one being cheated on because of the lines "the skyline whispers her promises, the same lie each night" however it's stating he needs to get away, doesn't want to be noticed ect ect. also he says it's warm for october, implying he may be under the heat of a guilty conscience. i feel he's cheating on the girl because he may have lost interest but doesn't know how to leave her or he's testing out whether he truely feels for her. hence forcing himself to believe what she says, even though to him it's a lie. moving on to the chorus the difference he wants is a change of scene, a different girl BUT he can't escape his girlfriend because he still sees her face and hears her promises, because he knows what he's doing is wrong. i'm most convinced of this during the stanza near the end that starts "i look in the mirror..." paying admission with his innoccence, exiting past her making him sick, "you're better than this, you're better than this"? one word: cheating. so in conclusion... it's about a boy who cheats on his girlfriend, but still can't get her off his mind. |

the first time i read these lyrics it kindof jumped out at me that it could all be a metaphor for dying and where you go afterwards. the conductor part could be a pastor or someone offering "love and happiness". i mean "fearing sleeping in the box" could be interpretted as meaning coffins yeah? and then the different cars could be different coffins. "who built the love" and "will there be a better place" are both questioning where we're going and if there's a god who'll take care of you in afterlife. and then the last stanza is pretty much in heaven or whatever other afterlife we go to. and the part about shouting back down about not needing lectures is like saying that no one's opinions or what we do on earth really matter. but it could also be interpretted as contradicting the whole idea of God and heaven seeing as it's usually religious people who do alot of lecturing. |

"Let her go Yelled the occupied pharaohs A lucky soul Who just so happened to break out She took the corner way And in the event that the normal result should fail" this is all about someone realising that conformity is just stupid and they escape from it. "We all can lean on figures and crutches The politburos will expect their free lunches Perhaps we all Van Gogh our hearing of pieces But we're assured of the existance of a better way We all can lean on figures and crutches Replace our hearts" here "politburos" means communist leaders so i'm pretty sure this stanza is talking about how leaders expect everyone to be the same and the free lunches means we're expected to support our leaders. then "van gogh our pieces of hearing" is like cutting off our ears so we don't listen to them anymore. breaking away because we can find better leaders to lean on and replace our hearts. so in conclusion i think this is a song about awakening people to how our society is becoming so utterly conformist and that we need to stop. but that's just my idea... on another note, brilliant song. love it =] |
